Bible Verse of The Day – 1-30-16

Proverbs 12:1 (NKJV) 12 Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid.

One of the things I have learned is that just because someone doesn’t always agree with me, or they may carry themselves differently than I do, it doesn’t mean that I can’t learn from them. I shouldn’t just exclude them and push them away immediately because of our differences.

Listening and learning is a big part of how we grow. We grow stronger and wiser by paying attention to those that may be a little different than us.

We can win battles at times if we listen to the right people and learn from them. Sometimes we look at people and think, “well, so and so made this mistake so they are not going to tell me how to how to live my life. Look what happened to them, look what they’ve been through. How can they teach me anything?”

Exactly. They walked through it. That is how we learn from each other. By simply walking through things and learning, we will come out with a lesson.

If someone has been through something similar to what we are going through and they came out of it, then they just might have the very answer we need.

There may be someone in our life today that God wants to use to help us win a battle. They have walked through the fire and they have the experience.

Their appearance or credentials may not be exactly what we would expect, but they can help us a great deal. Maybe because we don’t want to see eye to eye with them, we don’t think that they should be the ones to teach us. Boom!

It’s not up to us to always know where our help, answer or teaching will come from.

One thing to remember is that David brought the giant down! Who would have expected a boy to do this? But God knew David and knew he would be the one to do the job.

He knows who we need to help us at times; someone we can learn from. We can’t be so quick to say NO to the help that God brings.

Be open and patient and in time we will see.

1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV) 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-29-16

Matthew 6:22 (NKJV) 22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.

The world is loaded with garbage and we have to fight and protect ourselves from the dirt that tries to attack our hearts.

Just walking into a grocery store sometimes we will see things that we have to turn our heads from. It doesn’t matter where it is, they are direct attacks to try and taint or tempt us.

How do we protect our eyes from these things?

Ephesians 6:10-11 (NKJV) 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Put on the whole armor of God. We pray. We read and we remain teachable.

Protect the lamp.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-28-16

Proverbs 21:5 (NKJV) 5 The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.

God wants us all to be diligent with our money.

Finances can be a tough thing to get a handle on for some people. Much of this depends on our upbringing. If we were raised in poverty, or we weren’t taught proper handling of our finances, we will most likely grow up with poor money handling skills.

Much of what we need to know is based on common sense principles. And God’s word is full of advice when it comes what to do, and what not to do with our money. One of those things is to count the cost before doing something that requires us to spend money.

Luke 14:28 (NKJV) 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it

What does it mean to count the cost?

It means that we take the time to look at the numbers and figure out if we can really afford to buy that thing that we want so badly. It means that we don’t rush blindly into buying something, even if it seems like a small purchase or a great deal.

We need to seek God in many of the things we want to buy. Ask Him if He wants us to have it. Get in His word and see what He says about it. Sometimes the answer will be yes. Other times it will be a resounding no!

God wants us to enjoy ourselves. So He’s not against us buying things. But He wants us to make wise choices, so as not to put ourselves in a bind later on down the road because we spent too much money.

So let’s spend wisely and count the cost. If we do this, we’ll be well on our way to being better managers of the resources that God blesses us with.

Bible verse of The Day – 1-27-16

Ezekiel 36:26 (NKJV) 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

We desperately need a change of heart in this world today.

God is the only one that can do this. We cannot work for this. We cannot pay money for this. We cannot fake this or pretend we have this. It comes only from God.

How do we get this kind of heart? How do we get rid of our heart of stone and have it replaced with a heart of flesh? How do we get a heart that’s rich and flowing in the things of God?

How do we get a heart that is loving, kind, full of wisdom and understanding, compassionate, forgiving, caring, and that trusts Him to lead us in everyday life?

We enter into to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son. We talk to Him. We spend time with Him. We put Him first. And we inquire of Him and His thoughts and plans toward us each day.

He becomes our best friend. We trust Him with our life, our decisions and our concerns. He becomes our guidance each day. Not just on Sunday or Wednesday or when there is a crisis. But every minute of every day.

We give over to Him our greatest valuables and possessions. They become meaningless to us.

Our love for Him becomes so strong and real that we can’t stand to be away from Him or His presence at any given time. We yearn to please Him.

Ezekiel 36:27 (NKJV) 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

He does this for us as we give Him our heart of stone. He breaks it down and gives us a new heart, flowing with a river of living waters. Everywhere we step foot with Christ living in us, we bring life, happiness, peace and JOY!!

John 7:38 (NKJV) 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

Bible verse of The Day – 1-26-16

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Don’t get distracted by the times we’re living in and by what we see happening in this world.

Be alert and be ready. Stay focused, not on those things going on around us, but on things that God has asked us to do. Continue to be a light. Continue to trust God!!

These things that are happening are connected to the coming of our Savior. Oh Praise be to our Mighty Savior!!

He knows and sees what is happening. The timing of it all is in His hands and He will deal with everything accordingly. None of what we see is unknown to Him.

Humbly come to the throne and pray. Look up and keep our eyes and heart steadfastly on Him. He is faithful to save us all.

Press in and keep rejoicing and thanking Him. The lives of the lost shall be saved as we continue to reach out with His love, not letting anything get in our way.

Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV) 17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.

No weapon formed against us shall prosper. Even in times like these, God’s light will continue to shine bright and strong through each one of us!!

Be all that He made us to be. We are walking light bulbs on this earth!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-25-16

Luke 21:4 (NKJV) 4 for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”

Looking back many, many years, to when we first started to tithe and give of our offerings, we were in a position just like this woman; Broke, and in debt.

We heard a message about “Entering into a Covenant with God” being taught that day, and we KNEW God was speaking to our hearts.

We really didn’t question the financial position we were in. We just knew we had to take this step if we ever were to get out of our situation.

On our ride home that day we were silent. It was a humbling kind of silence. We had made a decision in our hearts and decided that no matter what, we would make a covenant with God and give to Him first.

We gave out of our poverty and our need.

Things did start to change for us. We had to work hard and it didn’t happen overnight. But God was faithful to His word and His promises.

If God is speaking to your heart to give, don’t wait until everything is just so. Start when you feel the prompting. Be prayerful. He will guide your steps.

God takes note when we give to Him and trust that He will take care of our needs.

Luke 21:3 (NKJV) 3 So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all;

It was not the amount, but the commitment and sacrifice.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-23-16

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

So many times our lives seem hopeless and without direction.

We get up each morning, shower, eat and head off to work. We come home, eat dinner, get things done, try to spend some time with our family and then we go off to bed. The next day we repeat the process. And so the cycle goes.

It seems like an endless loop. Like a hamster on one of those wheels, where they run and run, but never get anywhere. But it doesn’t have to be that way!

As a child of God, a follower of Christ, our lives should be different. How? By putting God first in everything.

If we seek God first, so many other things in our lives will fall into place. No, our problems won’t magically disappear. But putting God first puts everything else in proper perspective. And it helps us keep our priorities straight.

When our priorities are straight, we tend to make wiser decisions and better choices. And, whether we’re happy or not doesn’t depend on how our day goes or how we happen to feel at the moment.

Instead, we draw our strength from God. And everything about our lives revolves around our walk with Him. We no longer rely on our jobs, our careers, our families, our friends or our financial situation for our happiness.

So, go ahead. Put God first. We dare you!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-22-16

Matthew 22:37 (NKJV) 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.

Love God with everything!!

How can we show God that we love Him? What makes Him pleased in us and the things we do?

When we simply obey Him. When we study and follow His word to the best of our ability, and let the Holy Spirit be our Helper and guide us through, one day at a time.

The Holy Spirit will help guide us on what to do, what to say and how to worship Him.

John 4:23 (NKJV) 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

God has equipped us with everything we need to love and worship Him with all that we are.

He is seeking us to worship Him!

Bible verse of The Day – 1-21-16

Psalm 139:14 (NKJV) 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

Sometimes I stop and think about the miracle of the human body.

I think about how everything about our bodies is intricately created and put together with extreme precision.

Think about it. Our eyes are marvels of engineering. Our pupil expands and contracts automatically, to control the amount of light that gets let in.

Our hearts are strong pumps that beat 24 hours per day, with no rest as they circulate the blood throughout our bodies.

Our lungs take in the air we breathe. They expand and contract with each breath, filtering the air and dividing it so our bodies can use it efficiently.

Our nervous system is a complete miracle in itself. We move our muscles and members simply by willing it to happen. We feel, hear, see and smell all because of the different nerves and sensory components in our bodies.

If we get cut, the wound closes up and heals. If we pull a muscle, it fixes itself. If we get sick, our body has its own built-in system for fighting off bacteria and healing itself. It also creates antibodies that will help to keep us from getting that same sickness again.

And the entire conception and birth process is something that can never be explained by simple logic.

We, as God’s creations, are awe-inspiring and incredible. His handiwork in us alone is mind-boggling.

Give God thanks today for His miraculous wonders. He is beyond comprehension, and nothing in the world can compare to Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-20-16

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

We had a reader write to us, asking about how to yield to God and what it means to do so. We thought this would make a great topic for today’s teaching, so here it is 🙂

Yielding to God is something that encompasses your entire life, not just when someone is praying for you or laying hands on you.

Yielding to God means that we submit to Him in every aspect of our lives. We reach a place where we understand that our lives are not our own, but belong to Him fully.

The choices and decisions we make are His. The words we speak are His. The thoughts we think are His. Everything we do is about Him.

This doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and effort on our part, to let God teach us how to submit to Him in everything.

As we learn and grow, it becomes second nature and we don’t have to think about it much any longer. We’ll eventually find ourselves considering God in everything we do and every choice or decision we make. And as we do this, our trust and faith in Him grows tremendously.

It’s actually something that’s hard to describe. And it’s not like we suddenly cross a line and reach that goal. It just happens over time. And one day we realize that we’re not the same person any longer. We have a new purpose and new drive in our life. It’s no longer all about us.

So keep moving forward. Keep pressing in to Him. Keep letting Him grow your faith and your trust. You’re on an incredible journey and the final destination is Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-19-16

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Temptations come. But there is always a way to escape them.

The key is that we have to want to escape it. We have to want to do the right thing.

There are some things we just simply love doing and this makes it very hard to turn away when we are tempted.

The enemy sees our weaknesses. He will try to torment us with them. When this is going on, there is a constant battle going on inside of us and it can wear on us. That is his plan, to get us so tired that we give up fighting and give in.

Don’t let this battle continue on. Go to your Pastor or leader, prayer partner or someone you can trust, and let them know what is going on.

There is nothing wrong with admitting that we are weak in an area. What is wrong, and can hurt us badly, is if we try to handle it on our own, we deny we have a weakness, or we try to hide it.

Cry out to God. His Spirit will go to battle for us and help us get past it.

Romans 8:26 (NKJV) 26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
