Bible Verse of the Day

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-16-17

Matthew 13:1-3 (NKJV) 1 On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. 3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow.

The parable of the sower and the seeds has a lot of valuable lessons for each of us.

During the next few days we will cover each of the various scenarios that Jesus talked about regarding where the seeds fell and whether they grew or not.

So, let's start off with Matthew 13:4.

Matthew 13:4 (NKJV) 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.

Jesus went on to explain that the seeds being spread by the sower represent the word of God being shared with those who don't know Him.

As His message of love and hope is shared, the "seeds" fall on various kinds of ground.

In verse 4, the seeds fell by the wayside. And they never stood a chance to grow at all because they were immediately devoured by birds.

The seeds, in this case, represent the Word that is shared in a way that can't be understood by the ones hearing it. And because it can't be understood, it bears no fruit at all.

The enemy immediately comes and steals it before it can take root and grow in their hearts.

It's important that, as we share God's word with others who don't know Him, we listen to and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. He will guide us as to what to say and how to say it.

And as we heed His instructions, He will give us the right words to speak at the right time. And those words will be like seeds sown in fertile ground, yielding a harvest for the kingdom of God.
