Bible Verse of the Day

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-17-17

Matthew 13:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.

As the sower continued to sow his seeds, some of them fell on stony ground.

Stony ground has very little dirt. There is some, but not enough to support healthy growth or longevity.

Seeds sown on stony ground will typically spring up quickly, since they don't get buried very deep in the dirt. But as the sun hits them, they also dry up and whither very quickly. And as quickly as they sprang to life, they die.

They live a very short life and bear no fruit.

Such is the word of God when it is heard and received by some. They immediately embrace it, and are full of joy! But they have no root and it only lasts for a while.

When they face trials and persecution because of the word, they immediately stumble.

It's so important that we take His word seriously. We need to absorb it and get it embedded deeply within us. And as we do this, it is protected and will sustain us through everything we face in life.

We will continue tomorrow. As always, embrace His word and hold it deep in your hearts. His word is life!
