Bible Verse of The Day – 9-4-20

John 21:6 (NKJV) 6 And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.

The disciples had fished all night, and they had caught nothing.

It’s not that they didn’t know what to do. They were fishermen by trade. They knew how to catch fish!

But for whatever reason, this particular night they had not been successful. It happens sometimes, even for those with lots of experience.

They were tired and ready to call it quits when Jesus called out to them from the shore and told them to try throwing their nets out on a specific side of the boat.

So, they listened and did what the Master told them to do. And they immediately caught more fish than their nets should have been able to hold. Not only did they catch fish, but they caught large fish. 153 of them!

Sometimes we might get stuck doing the same things we have always done in the same way that we have always done them, over and over again. We never think about doing it differently.

This can apply to just about anything. Maybe it’s the way we spend our time with God. Maybe it’s how we pray or how we worship Him. Maybe it’s our daily walk.

Maybe it’s something entirely different than any of these things and it has nothing to do directly with our walk with God, but with listening for His guidance and instructions.

If we’re not listening to the leading of the holy Spirit, we may be just spinning our wheels.

Are we in a “dead end”, so to speak, in our walk with God?

Do we feel like we’re just going through the motions? Sometimes that’s because we are going through the motions.

We need to let God show us how to change things. We need to let Him show us what to do and how to do it, even in things related to our work, our daily tasks, etc.

This may not sound very spiritual in nature. It may seem more like a self-help message than the Gospel.

But to those that might think that, I say this; look at what happened to the Disciples when they listened to Jesus and threw their net out on the right side of the boat.

Not only did they catch more fish than they expected, but it’s safe to say it changed their hearts and, ultimately, their lives.

Cast your net out on the right side of the boat!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-27-20

Acts 9:11 (NKJV) 11 So the Lord said to him, “Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying.

Take a close look at, “the Lord said to him.”

You see, when the Lord says it to us, that is what counts. That is what we need to pay attention to.

We will hear many things and many ways of doing things in this life, but when the Lord says to us to do something a certain way, that is when we need to take note and obey. Notice that He gives specifics. That is how He is. He doesn’t leave us empty, wondering, not knowing.

Now, Ananias was a disciple at Damascus, and the Lord came to Him in a vision. Ananias replied to the Lord, “Here I am”! He was ready to listen.

When the Lord told him what he was to do, Ananias began to explain to the Lord some things regarding Saul of Tarsus that he was concerned about.

Acts 9:13 (NKJV) 13 Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem.

How many of us do this? The Lord places something on our hearts to do, and we begin to question Him and what He is asking of us.

I know I’m talking to myself today as well. This is a problem among almost all of us. We think we have to explain in detail what could happen to us if we take the steps the Lord is asking us to take.

The Lord did reassure Ananias that everything would be alright.

Acts 9:15 (NKJV) 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.

Our job is not to question or doubt, or even need an explanation. But to move and to move accordingly. To accept the task, trusting Him. Putting our concerns aside and following His leading.

He will give us specifics when we need them. He will be more than faithful to show us what we need to do when He needs to.

Don’t hesitate. Just do what He shows us. And then when the time is right, He will show us the next move.

Don’t forget Who we are dealing with! Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Alpha & Omega, Jehovah Jireh, El Shaddai, Almighty God is He!

Follow. Don’t feel the need to question or educate Him! He knows. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-10-20

John 15:5 (NKJV) 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

So many of us try to do everything on our own, by our own strength and our own understanding.

This always gets us into trouble, especially when it comes to doing the things God has asked us to do.

You see, if God has asked us to do something, He will surely give us what it takes to get it done.

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

This doesn’t always mean that it will be easy or effortless. On the contrary, if God is equipping us, it’s because it requires His wisdom, His understanding and His Spirit in order to accomplish it.

Just as giving birth to a baby is hard, yet rewarding, so is doing the things that God asks us to do.

Yes, there may be pain and struggles. Yes, we may feel like we are alone sometimes, even though we really aren’t. We just need to remember that it’s in Him that we are able to do it.

And it’s in Him that we find our solace and our reward, not in the world that we live in.

So, go ahead. Do that thing that God is prompting you to do. Just be sure to do it with the tools and the weapons that He has equipped you with to get it done His way.

And then look to Him, and thank Him for being the Source of everything we need.

Amen 🙂

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-19-19

Zechariah 4:10 (NLT) 10 Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.”

Have you ever prayed and asked God to allow you to do bigger and greater things? Have you felt small and insignificant doing the things you do?

This is pretty typical for most people. We all wrestle with this kind of thing. We want to do bigger and better things!

But there are a few things we need to keep in mind, so let’s take a look at them.

1 – First, why do we want to do bigger and better things? Is it solely because we want to make a bigger impact? Or is there maybe a little pride or ego involved?

Sometimes we see what someone else is doing and we become envious. It’s not necessarily a problem with us wanting what they have. But maybe we think that doing something bigger and better than what we’re doing now will give us some recognition.

2 – Second, what defines bigger and better? Whose scale do we use to define bigger and better? Is it ours? Or is it maybe the worlds?

We need to be careful that we don’t get our vision skewed by the things we see. We also need to remember that what we see with our natural eyes may not be the entire picture. Things might look pretty good at first sight, but there are always unseen things behind the scenes that can take away some of the supposed glamour of any situation.

3 – Third, who will “bigger and better” benefit? Will the bigger and better thing we seek after benefit us, or will it benefit someone else. Better yet, will it benefit the kingdom of God?

Before we get caught up in “moving up”, we need to remember that bigger isn’t always better.

The verse above says that God rejoices to see the work begin and to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand! This means that He rejoices just as much in small things, things in their beginning stages, as much as those things in their later stages.

The presence of a plumb line, which is used to make sure something stands straight upright, says just that; something is being built, but is not yet finished.

Take heart! Do the task that God has placed before you. Don’t worry about being big or small. Be concerned, instead, with making sure it’s done to the best of our ability, allowing God to use us and guide us.

When we let Him lead we can never go wrong.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-17-18

James 1:22 (NKJV) 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Knowing God’s word is a good thing to do. But doing God’s word is even better!

Many of us like to think that we know God’s word very well. Some can even quote chapter and verse for hundreds of different scriptures. And this is very good.

But God wants us to go beyond just knowing His word. He wants us to walk it out in our lives. If we fail to walk it out, it is just knowledge that does no one any good.

In fact, James said that if we hear the word but don’t put it into action, we are deceiving ourselves!

James also told us that if we have faith, we need to put action behind it and do something with it.

James 2:20 (NKJV) 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?

So, if God has told us to love others, then we need to be doing so. If He has told us to give of our finances, we need to be doing so. If He has told us to pray for others, we need to do so. If He has told us that we need to be His ambassadors, by living out His word in our lives, then we need to do so!

It’s time to put action behind His word and show the world who God is by more than just telling others. We need to live it out right before their eyes.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-15-18

Mark 9:23 (NKJV) 23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

Believing in what God tells us is the first step toward receiving. But there is more to it than just believing. We must not stop there.

Sometimes God will give what we need in steps. He may do His step first, then He may show us a step to take. Some things come in lots of steps. So, don’t lose hope. But be patient.

Patience is a big part of receiving God’s answers or plans for our situation. If we try to force something to happen, it will not turn out the same or be complete, the way it would be if we let God move on our behalf.

James 1:4 (NKJV) 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

So many times, God will show us what He would like to do in our situation. And if we are not careful, our first reaction will ruin God’s plan quickly. Why? Because we step out on our own and we try to do it all in the natural.

But there are things in the spiritual realm that need to be tended to first and foremost, and only God can show us what that is and how to do it.

We have to remember that there is an enemy, a devil, that roams around and wants to take us out. He wants to kill and destroy anything that’s good.

Just as King Herod was after the baby Jesus, he had all the babies killed. Why? Because something great and something GOOD was coming!!

The devil doesn’t like good. He moved through the heart of Herod and brought destruction to all those little babies. His goal was to kill Jesus, which would kill God’s plan.

Matthew 2:16 (NKJV) 16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.

He will try and take out anything that is going to be good for us too. He is the enemy that we battle against!

We need the Holy Spirit to help us receive the things that God has spoken to us. He will help us to hold onto our faith. He will help us know the direction we need to go. And He will help us to keep our mind sound and focused.

There are a lot of people in the middle of a battle right now, tired and having no idea what step to take next. It’s not over for you. God is saying, “you will win if you surrender it to Me and listen. I will take you all the way.”

If this is you today, we want you to write or call us, and we will pray with you and stand in agreement for God to take you “the rest of the way through”. As you surrender it completely to Him, and follow His direction, you will come out on the other side of this war. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-7-18

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV) 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Three little phrases; rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks.

Wow! What a serious set of instructions we are given here.

As we face the things in our lives that come along, we can sometimes feel alone, overwhelmed, defeated, and so many other emotions.

Rest assured, though, that we are never abandoned, despite how it might feel at times.

The thing we need to remember is that no matter what comes our way, we need to follow the instructions above.

We need to rejoice always. That means to rejoice even when we’re facing seemingly impossible circumstances. That’s not always so easy, is it? But if God tells us to do it, He also equips us to do it.

Pray without ceasing. This one doesn’t sound so tough. But do we do it? Hmm, not likely! But God shows us by his Spirit not only when to pray, but also how to pray. So, if we’re paying attention, He will prompt us and all we need to do is listen and obey.

In everything give thanks. Two simple words, give thanks. Now this one seems pretty basic. All we need to do is be thankful and express it. But there’s a really good chance that we probably don’t do this one all the time either.

We get busy. Or maybe we have an attitude because of the trial we’re facing. The last thing we feel is thankful. More than likely, we feel anger or frustration, and thanking God for anything is the last thing on our minds.

But once we get this one right, we’ll begin to see things differently. And the other two will come more easily to us.

So, remember, as we walk through the trials of life, rejoice always, pray without ceasing and in everything give thanks.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-21-18

Luke 11:28 (NKJV) 28 But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

“Keep it”. Those two words are crucial.

“Keeping it” is the key to having a blessed walk with God.

Those who hear God, and keep what He says dear to them, will not stand still. They will always be growing, learning and moving forward. They will take action as God directs them through His word.

They will mature, they will build, they will take what He says and apply it to every aspect of their life. And they will be blessed!

When God speaks to us through His word, one way or another there is forward motion.

He will speak to our everyday situations. Hear what God is saying through His word today and keep it dear to us. Move forward in it and be blessed!

He is a GOOD God and faithful to deliver on His promises.

2 Timothy 4:18 (NKJV) 18 And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-12-17

Isaiah 41:13 (NKJV) 13 For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’

What happens when we ignore something we know we need to address? It gets worse. It grows. It gets a stronger grip on us. And it can cause distractions, keeping us from moving forward.

Why? Because when we let it linger, we let it get the best of us.

Don’t get us wrong. There are times when we need to let things be and let it have time to work itself out. But today we are focusing on those things we know we need to address.

Maybe it’s an employee, a family member, or a friend. For ministers, priests or pastors, maybe it’s a situation within the congregation, etc. Or maybe it is something within our own personal situation that we need to deal with.

Whatever it may be, if God is prompting us to look closely at it, we must take it to heart and seek Him as to how to deal with it. Ask Him, “what steps do we take, Lord?”.

If we continue to let it go and we ignore it, with the hope that it will pass or go away, that is not likely to happen. Things that God puts on our hearts or opens our eyes to see, most times are the very things we need to pray about and deal with.

God is faithful to help guide us and walk us through it. We just have to be willing.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-25-17

Deuteronomy 8:2 (NKJV) 2 And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

Have you ever felt like you keep facing the same obstacles over and over again? It happens to all of us at one time or another.

And as we face those same things over and over again, we stand and ask why. Why do we have to go through this yet again?

Usually it’s because we didn’t get it right the first time. So we have to do it again. And if we don’t get it right the second time, we will face it again. And so on.

God did this with the Israelites when they left Egypt. The journey they had to make should have taken them no more than two weeks or so. But they wandered in the wilderness for forty years!

They kept going around that same mountain again, and again. And every time they did, they failed the test.

God wanted to teach them and show them why. But they failed miserably. And so they paid the price for their disobedience, by dying in the desert and never getting to enter into the land of promise that God had told them about.

It’s important that we don’t fall into the same trap. We need to get God’s wisdom and discernment and make sure we take the right steps as He leads us.

Do we keep struggling with financial problems? Maybe we’re mishandling our money.

How about relationships? Are we constantly in crisis mode with our relationships? We’re probably choosing the wrong people to hang with, entering into a relationship with the wrong person, or failing to correct the things that are wrong in the relationship.

This can apply to just about every area of our lives. Wherever we repeatedly make poor choices, we will face the same struggles over and over again.

This is why it’s so important that we draw near to God and build our relationship with Him, so we can hear Him clearly and heed His promptings and warnings.

And when we follow Him closely, we will find that we will stop facing the same hurdles over and over again. And His peace will wash over us like cool water on a hot day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-25-17

Romans 8:37 (NKJV) 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

How many times do we feel we are not good enough or we are not worth anything at all? How many times do we feel that we could never do what others do? That we are never going to be anything important in life.

Well, today God wants you to know that you have already done wonderful things in your life. That you have already taken steps that maybe no one knows but Him. And those steps that you took you took when you were scared.

You had no idea what you were doing but felt with everything in you that you needed to do it, and you trusted Him with the rest.

God sees you through perfect, loving eyes and you are wonderful to Him! You are more than a conqueror through Him!

God bless you and keep going!
