Bible Verse of The Day – 5-5-23

1 Chronicles 9:1 (NKJV) 1 So all Israel was recorded by genealogies, and indeed, they were inscribed in the book of the kings of Israel. But Judah was carried away captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.

“But Judah was carried away captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness”.

This is a powerful statement pointing to the willingness of God to chasten His people.

God has standards that He wants His people to subscribe and adhere to.

These are not just Old Testament standards. They apply to us today as well.

God’s mercy is real. He forgives as we repent.

But unrepentant hearts are prime candidates for His chastening.

Some nations of the world are being chastened by God right now, this very minute, for their sins and their unrepentant hearts.

It’s important for us to understand that His chastening isn’t intended for the ungodly.

It is His people, the bride of Christ, who need to repent and seek forgiveness for straying and letting our hearts become lukewarm and weak in our faith.

God has given us a lengthy season of mercy; a time to allow us to see our shortcomings.

During that time, He has held back His hand. His chastening has been delayed as He gave us sufficient time to correct our paths.

But now we are seeing things play out that are clearly intended to show us the price we must pay for failing Him.

Yes, God chastens those He loves. He punishes us when it is necessary.

Hebrews 12:6 (NKJV) 6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”

It is imperative that we allow God to soften our hearts so we can recognize our sins. Then we need to acknowledge our sins, taking the proper steps to correct them and repent.

As we do that, God’s hand of chastening will be lifted, and His mercy will cover us once again.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-14-23

Revelation 3:19 (NKJV)19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

God will chasten us for one reason; because He loves us.

What He is dealing with in our heart is important to Him and good for us.

Nobody likes to talk about this. We don’t like to hear that God will correct us, or that He may not allow us to move forward or to reach our goals in our life at times.

Why? Because our heart is in the wrong place.

We may not necessarily like it, but without God’s chastening in our lives, there won’t be any blessings either.

God loves to see His children walking in obedience. And when we do so, He will reward us accordingly. As we walk in His will, all that we need will be provided for us.

The Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness and all God wanted was for them to reach a place of obedience in their hearts. That’s it. All they had to do was listen and obey.

Joshua 5:6 (NKJV) 6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people who were men of war, who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they did not obey the voice of the Lord—to whom the Lord swore that He would not show them the land which the Lord had sworn to their fathers that He would give us, “a land flowing with milk and honey.”

Maybe we are wandering in our own wilderness, wondering, “why am I still in the same place today. I prayed, I changed some things up in my walk, I did everything I know how to do, and I am still in the same place. Nothing has changed”.

We have to ask ourselves, are we doing what God is asking us to do, the way He wants us to do it, and in His timing?

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Get His wisdom about why we are stuck in this place, and then follow through with His plan and it will be given to us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-30-22

Matthew 13:14-15 (NKJV) 14 And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: ‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, And seeing you will see and not perceive; 15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’

Sometimes while reading the word of God, we need to be careful not to miss some subtle things that are really very important.

Here in this discourse by Jesus, He quoted the prophet Isaiah.

What this did was bring an ancient prophecy back into the present time, making it relevant to more than just the Israelites, to whom it was originally spoken.

It revived the prophecy, so to speak, making it relevant again.

And this prophecy is also very relevant today because a large percentage of the church (the bride of Christ) is sound asleep.

Their eyes have closed, and they fail to see or hear what God is doing and saying.

People of God, if there was ever a time when it was most important to be awake, hearing and seeing, it is now!

We are living out Biblical prophecies right before our eyes. We are seeing events foretold centuries and centuries ago unfold in front of us.

God is moving. He is setting up kings and removing kings. He is putting people and things in place to carry out His plan.

But some of us may not recognize God in many of these things because they don’t look like things that God would have any part of.

Don’t let yourself be fooled!

The Bible is full of examples where God used not-so-nice leaders to teach His people valuable lessons.

Yes, He used evil people to punish the Israelites, His very own people.

Has God changed? Absolutely not!

We are still subject today to discipline if we are His children.

He chastens those whom He loves (Hebrews 12:6). And, people of God, we are being chastened on a global scale.

Let us not stick our heads in the sand and ignore what is right in front of us.

Let us seek Him wholeheartedly, repenting before Him for our own sins, and the sins of the bride.

He is still faithful to hear cries of repentance, and to forgive those who humbly come before Him, calling out for His mercy.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-10-20

Judges 2:14 (NKJV) 14 And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel. So He delivered them into the hands of plunderers who despoiled them; and He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies.

What a time that must have been for Israel.

Here they were winning battles and taking the land that God had promised their fathers. Then they got stupid and started disobeying, doing the very thing He told them not to do.

This can even happen to us today. Everything is going great and then carelessness slowly sets in.

Carelessness is dangerous. It leads to sin.

God’s word is clear on telling us not to mess with certain things/people; to not even allow them in our presence. But we think we can handle it and we don’t listen. The next minute we know, we are involved in the wrong stuff.

1 Corinthians 15:33 (NKJV) 33 Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”

When God tells us not to mix in, He has a good reason for that. And we must obey His voice.

His words are good for us, whether they are in the Old Testament or the New Testament.

He brought correction to Israel. And He will bring correction to us.

But it isn’t like He does it because He is a mean God. He does it because He loves us.

Hebrews 12:6 (NKJV) 6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”

We can’t enable those we love. We correct them and we stand firm in the truth, with love.

If we’re in trouble today, come to Him. Sorry is probably the best word in our vocabulary that we can learn when it comes to our walk with God. Because repentance is for us all, and God will help us if we truly mean it.

He will correct us, but He will save us from our enemies and our shortcomings if our hearts soften and change.

Judges 2:16 (NKJV) 16 Nevertheless, the Lord raised up judges who delivered them out of the hand of those who plundered them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-6-17

Job 5:17 (NKJV) 17 “Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.

When God brings correction, we know it. The only time we don’t know what God is saying to us is when we get stubborn and refuse to listen.

There are times when we are not sure of the steps we need to take and we just need more time for Him to unfold it. That’s different, and it’s OK for us to take the time needed to get His direction and understanding.

But sometimes we deliberately don’t hear or receive God’s correction. Because deep down we know it’s going to cost us something or go against what we want to be doing. This is called having ears, but not hearing.

Mark 8:18 (NKJV) 18 Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?

We prefer to be doing what we want to do. We prefer to be doing things the way we are used to doing them. And we like it that way.

We ignore God’s promptings, words, and His reminders that come through the scriptures.

Have we ever been in this place? It’s uncomfortable, frustrating and makes for a miserable time.

It’s not hard to know what we are doing when we are ignoring God. We will feel it, we will see it and we will know it.

Our hearts will tell us something’s wrong. Our attitude changes. We get hard, prideful and arrogant. And sometimes we are nasty to those around us, those we work with, those we live with and those that we love.

Our hearts change when we ignore God’s correction. We become a different person. Kind of like a cold, hard stone.

But we don’t have to stay like that. We can come to God, repent and receive His correction at any time. His correction will fix us back up and help us to walk the path He has for us. And we will be blessed.

Psalm 94:12 (NKJV) 12 Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O Lord, And teach out of Your law…

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-24-15

Psalm 139:13 (NKJV) 13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.

Do we think God does not know who we are just because we may not know everything about Him?

Do we think that He doesn’t see us or what we are involved in, whether good or bad?

Do we really think He ignores us when we cry out to Him for help, healing, deliverance or Salvation, etc.?

Do we think that when we mess up He throws His hands up in the air and says, “that’s it, I’m done with you”?

God loves every bit of us. But the one thing we must know is that He does not love our sin, and therefore He will not tolerate it.

If He let us get away with it then He would not love us, like He tells us in His Word.

Hebrews 12:6 (NKJV) 6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”

We need to understand that some of the things that come our way that don’t feel so good aren’t necessarily from the enemy. They may very well be God correcting or chastening us, and we can’t run from it. Instead, we need to face it and walk it out.

Being corrected or chastened is never fun, but as we grow in our walk with HIm, we will learn that we are disciplined because we are loved.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-7-15

Proverbs 3:11-12 (NKJV) 11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor detest His correction; 12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights.

Sometimes we get acting up a little and need an attitude adjustment.

We all have days or times when we’re just not thinking right and we need to be shown by the Holy Spirit where we’re going wrong.

It’s not that God is mad at us or wants to hurt us. But because He loves us, He also corrects us from time to time. It’s good for us!

It’s not always pleasant when it happens, but if we heed His correction and follow His leading, we will be so much better off in the long run.

Just as we need to chasten and scold our own kids once in a while, so does God need to watch over us and chasten us when we need it.

So if we have an attitude problem, let’s listen to God’s promptings and follow His leading and get it fixed up.

It may hurt a little in the short run, but in the long run we will be a much stronger believer and live a life of victory in Jesus 🙂
