Bible Verse of The Day – 6-21-23

John 16:33 (NKJV) 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Life is never perfect; not for any of us.

Some of us deal with some very hard things in our lives, and we don’t always find a solution for them.

Some of these things last a long time… years and years. For some, these things might even last for a majority of their lives.

People often question this and ask why these things happen. Why do some people suffer so much in their lives?

There are no perfect, happy-ever-after type answers for the questions that get asked when these kinds of situations are encountered.

Sometimes life is just hard, with situations that are hard to understand, and even harder to endure.

Sometimes these things happen as consequences for choices we have made. Other times, they happen by no fault of our own. They just happen.

But take note that Jesus told us in the verse above that trials and tribulations would come. None of us is exempt.

Does that mean we can’t ask God for help or wisdom about our situation? Absolutely not.

The best thing we can do if we are in these kinds of situations is understand that God is our rock and our fortress in everything that we face.

He is our source of peace and of hope.

He is our solace (comfort, consolation, cheer, support).

His joy is our strength.

We should be seeking Him every day, not just to ask Him how to get out of our situation, but also to ask Him what we can learn from it.

How can we bring glory to Him in the midst of the storm we are traveling through?

Let us grow while facing trials. Let us look to Him for His comfort and strength. And let us find our joy in Him, even as we push through times of great difficulty.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-24-19

Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

This verse is very frequently quoted. It’s a very encouraging word from God!

Today we want to focus on one little word that gives us very big encouragement; Hope.

God says in this verse that He has plans for each one of us. Wrapping it up, He says His plans are to give us hope.

Hope is something that we all need. Without it, our lives can seem pretty meaningless. Without hope, we have nothing to look forward to, nothing to live for. And if we are going to have hope, the best kind of hope that we can have is hope from God.

Hope in anything less than God is hope that can be very fragile. But if we hope in God, we are on a firm foundation, trusting in the very One who spoke the worlds into existence.

We are all unique, and our situations are also unique. So, our hopes can vary greatly from one person to another. But it’s safe to say that, no matter who we are, if our hope is based on and rooted in God, they are hopes that aren’t just wishful thinking.

So, if you are feeling down, look up today. If you’re feeling hopeless, let God give you the best kind of hope that can be found; His hope.

He will never, ever disappoint us if we place our hope in Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-25-18

Romans 8:24-25 (NKJV) 24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

Hope. It’s what our walk with God is based on. None of us has ever seen God. Yet we pursue Him and follow Him.

We trust that He has our eternal destiny in His hands. Why? Because His word says so.

Some may ask why we believe in Someone that we can’t see. But that question contains its own answer.

If we were able to see God, there would be no need for hope or faith. Once something is seen, hope and faith are no longer necessary.

But we know that our hope is not in vain. Although we may not be able to see God face to face, He reveals Himself in many other ways. Creation demands a Creator.

The sights that we take in each and every day are a confirmation for the hope that we have.

The new life that enters the world when a new baby is born is proof for the hope we have.

The sun rising and setting each day, and the planets that surround us are evidence for the hope we have.

The birds of the air and the fish of the sea are just a tiny piece of the foundation for our hope.

And there is so much more that we could say. But it’s not necessary. Because He speaks for Himself in so many ways.

So, we wait eagerly and with perseverance for the hope that our faith is built upon, knowing that one day we will stand before Him, taking in the glory of His presence, in all of its awe and wonder.

Lamentations 3:24 (NKJV) 24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-18-17

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV) 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Jesus walked the earth, sinless. He knew no sin.

This is something that’s hard for our minds to comprehend. We have a hard time wrapping our heads around the fact that a man, a human being, could live for 33 years and not sin. Not even once.

But it is what was required of Him. It was necessary. It was His purpose to come to earth and live a sinless life.

Why?

Because we needed redemption. We needed someone to build a bridge between us and a holy God, whom we had been separated from by our own transgressions. We needed someone who could blot out our own sins and make us righteous, in spite of ourselves.

Jesus was that One. He came and lived. And He died, for you and for me, to redeem us.

His lack of sin proves our need for Him. Without Him we would be hopeless and lost, forever condemned.

But with Him, we have hope!

Titus summed it very well in these verses:

Titus 2:11-14 (NKJV) 11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

We have hope, in Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-12-17

John 10:10 (NKJV) 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

We have an enemy. He has one purpose; to steal, kill and destroy.

And who does he want to steal from, kill and destroy? Us. You and me.

This is evident each and every day that we live and breathe. We see death and destruction all around us. Sometimes it affects us directly, up close and personal. Other times we just see it from a distance, as it wreaks havoc with those around us or people we don’t know.

And, yes, it can be scary and intimidating sometimes.

But, God has given us hope and a reason to rejoice!

And that reason has a name; Jesus Christ.

Jesus came so that we may have abundant life in Him! He has defeated the enemy once and for all.

Revelation 1:18 (NKJV) 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

No matter what things look like on the surface, we need to always remember that God is still in control. He is still on the throne.

And even in the midst of our trials and hard times, our joy and happiness can still prevail. Why? Because we have a Savior who is alive, even after being crucified and laid in the grave.

More than that, we can have abundant life in Him! Our lives don’t have to be mundane and worrisome. We don’t have to rise up each morning dreading the day ahead of us.

Rise up each morning knowing that we have victory in Jesus. And when the enemy whispers in your ear, telling you that you are defeated and hopeless, don’t buy the lie.

Stand up tall and rebuke his filthy lies, in the name of Jesus. Victory and abundance in Jesus are yours! Amen.
