Exodus 32:24 (NKJV) 24 And I said to them, \u2018Whoever has any gold, let them break it off.\u2019 So they gave it to me, and I cast it into the fire, and this calf came out.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As Moses spent time on the mountain, speaking with God, Aaron stayed behind with the Israelites. As they waited for Moses to return, they grew impatient.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

They began to make demands of Aaron. They no longer wanted to wait. And they quickly forgot God, despite the fact that He had led them out of slavery in Egypt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As they pressed Aaron, he finally gave in to them and told them to give him all of their gold jewelry. Aaron melted the jewelry and crafted a gold calf, placing it before them so they could worship it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Exodus 32:4 (NKJV) 4 And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf. Then they said, \u201cThis is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But did you notice what Aaron told Moses when he asked about the calf? He literally told Moses that \u201ca calf came out\u201d!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Aaron refused to accept responsibility for his poor choice. Instead, he played innocent, hoping he would not be held accountable for his behavior.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

What do we <\/em>do when we are faced with our poor choices and mistakes? Do we pass the blame, or do we own up and accept responsibility for what we’ve done?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It\u2019s important that we own up to the things we do if we want to experience God\u2019s forgiveness and mercy. After all, He can\u2019t forgive us for something that we \u201cdidn\u2019t do\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
