Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV) 5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, \u201cI will never leave you nor forsake you.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

For most people, the last part of this verse is what usually gets the emphasis; \u201cI will never leave you nor forsake you.\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But the first part of the verse is what makes the last part so important!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

God reassures us that He will never leave us nor forsake us, no matter what our situation looks like.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The important thing is that we learn to be content with what we have, not being covetous or envious, longing after what others have.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We all go through times of lack, times when things are tough. Sometimes it\u2019s financial difficulties. Other times it may be emotional struggles, where we feel alone or unloved. Still other times it may be health-related, where we are sick or battling various types of physical ailments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It\u2019s during those times when we may begin to look at what others have, and feel like we don\u2019t have what we want or need. But it\u2019s those<\/span> <\/em>times when we need to trust God wholly and remember that he has promised He will never leave us nor forsake us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This doesn\u2019t mean that everything will always be easy. Some situations will still be difficult.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But our security needs to be in Him, not in the things we have, regardless of what those things might be.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This kind of trust in God takes time to develop. It doesn\u2019t happen overnight. And it doesn\u2019t happen without a deliberate effort on our part.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It\u2019s critical that we spend time in His word, time talking to Him and time listening to Him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Then and only then will we fully understand the truth of this verse.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
