Matthew 6:1 (NKJV) 1 \u201cTake heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As human beings who tend to think logically, we can sometimes get caught up in making sure we get the credit for anything we do.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This goes for things we do at work, at school, at church, or even in the home. We accomplish something, so we want to make sure we are recognized for it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

While it\u2019s nice to get credit for what we have done, it\u2019s also important to know that getting credit isn\u2019t necessary if we do it with the right heart.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Jesus taught that the things we do to help others should not be done openly, but in secret.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Matthew 6:3 (NKJV) 3 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing<\/span>…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

If we choose to do it openly, and people give us accolades for what we have done, we have already received our reward in those accolades.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Matthew 6:2 (NKJV) 2 Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But if we do it in secret, God will reward us for it in His <\/span><\/em>way.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Matthew 6:4 (NKJV) 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Our natural tendency is to tell others about what we do. But God wants to help us change that!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This takes a bit of discipline and training on our part, learning to share only what God wants us to share with others, and hold back those things that might cause others to give us praise for what we have done.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

So, let\u2019s keep doing those things that God has taught us to do. But let\u2019s let Him show us how to do them in a way that won\u2019t deliberately draw attention to ourselves in the process \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
