2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NKJV) 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Where do we find comfort when we are facing tough situations?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Most of us find it in different places.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Many of us may find it in things around us that we can reach out for easily; a drink, a cigarette, drugs, food, or maybe even spending money.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We substitute those things for the comfort that God wants to give us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In the verses above, God tells us plainly that He wants to be the One who comforts us. He wants us to go to Him when we\u2019re troubled, handing our fears, concerns and stresses off to Him, so He can bear them for us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The bad part about how many of us handle stress and trials is that the very things that we rely on for comfort are actually hurting us. These things can physically damage our bodies, the temple that God has given us. And if we don\u2019t get a handle on them, they can actually affect our health adversely.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

God not only wants us to go to Him for comfort, but He also wants us to be able to take what comforts us and hand it out to others who need it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

How will that work out for us if we are relying on things that are unhealthy? It wouldn\u2019t make much sense for us to offer someone a drink (alcohol), drugs or food, would it?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We are all at different places in our walk with God. We are all growing at various rates. If we\u2019re not growing, we need to be!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

So, we can\u2019t all be expected to be spiritual super-heroes. But as we pursue God, He will teach us how He wants us to grow and mature. And, if we follow His leading, before long we will find ourselves going to Him<\/em> for comfort, instead of the earthly\u00a0things that we have depended on for so long. Amen!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
