2 Corinthians 7:1 (NKJV) 1\u00a0Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Today we want to talk about the difference between fake<\/em> religion and a real<\/em> relationship.<\/p>\n

The most disgusting and filthy thing that can happen to any of us is that we think we are walking with God, but then we find ourselves caught up in something less; a false religion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Many years ago I learned there is quite a difference. But it is so very easy to be fooled if we are not sure of God\u2019s word.<\/p>\n

If we take everything to heart that a person may say, but fail to decipher or filter it through the Bible, we could be in that place right now and not even know it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Fake religion is tricky and can seem so close to what the real thing looks like, that if we don\u2019t have the Holy Spirit guiding us, prompting us and helping us, we will not see it even when we are walking in the midst of it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

A real relationship with God comes with a manual of\u00a0instructions; His word! Sometimes this manual\u00a0won\u2019t make us feel good, especially when we are being chastened at times.<\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t always look so good on the surface, especially when we have no clue about His\u00a0timing or the outcome of a situation.<\/p>\n

And having this real\u00a0relationship with Him doesn\u2019t always get us what we want. Sometimes it gets us just the opposite. Ouch!<\/p>\n

We have to trust that He\u00a0will always lead us into taking the right steps, toward what is\u00a0best for us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

You see, fearing God comes when we have a real relationship with Him, when we get to know Him personally and we learn of His magnificence and His awesome love for us.<\/p>\n

Our love will grow deeper and we will build a more reverent\u00a0relationship towards Him.<\/p>\n

This will never\u00a0happen when we are running around in a fake religion, or in an organization that has us constantly hyped up, always feeling good, tickling our ears, and building us up in ourselves. No!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But healthy fear comes when a\u00a0\u00a0truthful and real relationship begins.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We need to cleanse ourselves from the filthiness of the flesh, get our hearts in a right relationship with God, and we will walk in wisdom.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Proverbs 1:7 (NKJV) 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,\u00a0But\u00a0fools despise wisdom and instruction.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
