The words we speak can have a large impact on our lives and the lives of others.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Part of how they impact people is more than just what we say. It\u2019s in how we say them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

When someone is combative and argumentative, the worst thing we can do is argue back with them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The best thing we can do is speak softly and with kindness, even if our flesh tells us otherwise.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This is a very hard thing for some of us to learn, especially if we have a strong personality that feels the urge to \u201cset people straight\u201d all the time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But I have personally seen this defuse many tense situations over the years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And if speaking kindly to someone who is being belligerent and offensive doesn\u2019t defuse the situation, it\u2019s probably best to walk away anyway, since arguing with them won\u2019t accomplish anything.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

There\u2019s nothing deeply spiritual about this. It\u2019s just tried and true wisdom from Solomon, someone who had lots more experience than most of us ever will when it comes to dealing with many different\u00a0people of varying personality types across a multitude of situations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Despite its simplicity, it can be life-changing for so many of us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
