1 Peter 1:24-25 (NKJV) 24 because \u201cAll flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, 25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.\u201d Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Life. It\u2019s conceived, it exists for a season, and then it\u2019s gone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Peter quotes a scripture from Isaiah (40:6-8) to make his point about this.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The original scripture from Isaiah uses grass and flowers to draw a parallel between the brief life of grass (and flowers) and a human life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We all know that human life is fragile and fleeting. But many times, we don\u2019t grasp this truth as solidly as we should. For some reason we just can\u2019t seem to fully wrap our heads around the harsh reality of it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As we grow older, though, we usually start to comprehend it in a new way that makes it more real. Losing someone in our lives can also drive this home on a personal level.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

What\u2019s most important in this particular scripture, though, is the comparison that\u2019s made between the quickly-passing life of humans and the eternal nature of God\u2019s word, and the incredible power that God\u2019s word has to change us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

You see, we can\u2019t change the fact that life comes and it goes. We live and then we pass on into eternity. This never changes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Our lives while we\u2019re here on earth, though, can be changed by God\u2019s word, which never passes away.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In fact, our lives can be changed dramatically by His word!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

So, it\u2019s important that we not focus on the temporary nature of life, but rather on the way that God can change us and use us for His glory, no matter where we come from or what we\u2019ve been through.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Life is here today and gone tomorrow. God\u2019s word is not. His word endures forever. Amen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
