1 Kings 17:11 (NKJV) 11 And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, \u201cPlease bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As Elijah spoke to this particular widow, this was her giving moment right here. If she chose to obey God, she would be saved from the dire situation she was facing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The\u00a0woman had just enough food left for her and her son to eat a final meal, then they were going to die.<\/p>\n

Then, along comes a man of God; a prophet named\u00a0Elijah.<\/p>\n

Elijah was asking her to make him a meal before making one for herself and her son.<\/p>\n

She had to decide what she should do.<\/p>\n

I can only imagine, with her child to think of, what a decision this would be to have to make.<\/p>\n

Well, she chose to listen and do what the prophet\u00a0asked. In return, God made provision for her.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

1 Kings 17:14 (NKJV) 14 For thus says the Lord God of Israel: \u2018The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

She sowed the remainder of what she had, and she did it with the right heart.<\/p>\n

The seed\u00a0she gave went into good ground. And she and her son were taken\u00a0care of.<\/p>\n

Boy, how quickly things can change when we obey.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We know that giving is a very touchy subject for some people. Many people would rather not discuss it.<\/p>\n

But the reason we choose to teach on this sensitive topic\u00a0is because we know it can help people immensely once they understand it.<\/p>\n

We teach on it because it’s God’s truth, and it works.<\/p>\n

We have seen God move in so many ways when we have obeyed Him in this area.<\/p>\n

When giving is done from the heart, it is\u00a0powerful!<\/p>\n

We have literally seen God come through\u00a0many times on our behalf, or on the behalf of others, because of our giving of one thing or another.<\/p>\n

Sometimes It\u2019s money.\u00a0Other times it\u2019s labor or spending time with someone.<\/p>\n

Sometimes it is giving up food for a period of time (fasting), etc. It’s\u00a0whatever God is asking of us at that particular moment in time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Oh, the joys of giving! The blessings of the Lord that come from planting our seed in God-given\u00a0fertile\u00a0ground.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Sometimes we are not sure if we should give to certain things. When this happens, we may feel torn and undecided.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

One day, while listening to someone’s situation,\u00a0they began crying and saying they couldn’t\u00a0do it\u00a0alone. They needed financial help.<\/p>\n

Their emotional plea began to move me, and I was willing to give anything I could to help them at that moment.<\/p>\n

But when I pulled myself together, I asked God, “do you want me to give to this cause?”.<\/p>\n

I thought for sure He would tell me “yes”, and then give me an\u00a0amount.<\/p>\n

But to my surprise He said, \u201cno\u201d. Just like that. No.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I found out later they got more than what they needed\u00a0within a very short time.<\/p>\n

God knew. And I\u2019m glad I listened.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Giving is something we need to take seriously.<\/p>\n

When God says, \u201cgive\u201d, we need to obey.<\/p>\n

When God says, \u201cno, not for this\u201d, no matter how much it is pulling\u00a0or tugging on our emotions, we need to obey and follow God\u2019s lead.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We can’t let our emotions cause us to act in such a way that it overrides what God is saying to do.<\/p>\n

Ask Him for guidance or reassurance, and then follow.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Giving is powerful and makes a difference if we give to what, who and where we are\u00a0supposed\u00a0to. Amen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
