Galatians 5:1 (NKJV) 5 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As I have been studying in\u00a0the book of Romans recently, I have seen and read a lot about sin in the lives of believers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

If we pay close attention to the word of God, and what it says on this topic, it becomes clear that this is a really big deal. It\u2019s not something that we should just brush off and ignore.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The verse above tells us to stand fast in the liberty by which Christ has made us free.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Looking more closely at some of the phrases used here gives us a bit deeper insight into what this verse means to us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Stand Fast: Don\u2019t backtrack. Don\u2019t surrender again to sin. Don\u2019t budge when sin tempts us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Liberty: Freedom bought and paid for by Jesus Christ, through His death on the cross.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Entangled: Ensnared, entrapped.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Yoke of Bondage: Sin, unrighteous behavior that holds us captive, separating us from God\u2019s presence in our lives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

So, if we were to paraphrase the verse based on these definitions, synonyms, and understanding from the Holy Spirit, here\u2019s what it might read like.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Do whatever it takes to hold onto the freedom that Jesus Christ died to give you. Don\u2019t surrender it at any cost. Don’t let the enemy slyly lead you into the chains of sin again, from which you have already been set free.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

So, we urge you in love to do just that; resist sin and temptation to fall back into the sin that Jesus died to deliver us from.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The freedom that we have was costly for the One who died to make it available to us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Let\u2019s cherish it, honor it and respect it with our hearts and our lives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
