John 10:27 (NKJV) 27\u00a0My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This is a familiar verse to most of us. We\u2019ve probably heard or read it many times in the past.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And we have probably all read it and moved on, thinking very little about the depth of it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I did that, too, until recently, when the Holy\u00a0Spirit\u00a0showed me something that I had missed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Look at those last 4 words; \u201cand they follow me<\/span>\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

God clearly showed me that most of us miss the importance of those 4 words.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

You see, we often state that we believe in Jesus. We put our faith in Him. We trust Him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But Jesus said that His sheep \u201cfollow Him\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

There\u00a0is a big difference between\u00a0believing\u00a0in\u00a0someone and\u00a0following\u00a0them!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Now that caught my attention.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

To believe in someone conveys that we have some kind of confidence in them as a person of significance, or a leader; someone of great importance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But to follow them indicates that we do far more than just believe in them. We trust them with everything; our life, our eternal destiny, our very soul.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It also means that we obey them! We do what they say we should do.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

That is probably the biggest outward sign of following Jesus; that we obey Him in the way we live and the actions we take in our day to day lives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We live like He lived. And we live the way He instructed us to.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Why? Not simply because it seems like the right thing to do. But because we love\u00a0Him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Remember the exchange between Peter and Jesus?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved Him. By the third time, Peter was frustrated. But Jesus was trying to make a point; that He wanted Peter to understand what it meant to love Him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And then He told Peter to do something that was significant, but seemed rather odd at the time; feed My sheep.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It was then that Peter started to get it. It \u201cclicked\u201d, and he understood the depth of what it means to follow Jesus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And that level of loving and following Jesus ultimately cost Peter his life, as He literally followed Jesus to his death years later.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

John 21:17 (NKJV) 17 He said to him the third time, \u201cSimon, son of Jonah, do you love Me<\/span>?\u201d Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, \u201cDo you love Me<\/span>?\u201d And he said to Him, \u201cLord,\u00a0You\u00a0know all things; You know that I love You.\u201d Jesus said to him, \u201cFeed My sheep<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
