1 Chronicles 29:14 (NKJV) \u00a014 But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As David spoke to God, he voiced a divine understanding.<\/p>\n

He had come to realize that all they had prepared and been supplied with in order to build God’s holy temple was directly from the hand of God Himself.<\/p>\n

He understood that all things come from Him; even the things we use to do His work.<\/p>\n

God makes provision for His work and blesses us as we obey Him.<\/p>\n

David, and others that came to be\u00a0a part\u00a0of this work, gave from what they had;\u00a0their\u00a0skills, money, materials and labor.<\/p>\n

David himself gave all his treasury toward building this wonderful place for God. Yet David said, “and of your own we have given to you”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He acknowledged\u00a0that all he had was really from God. It was not his.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

What about us? Do we understand this concept that David understood? Or do we believe it is all ours, to do with what we want? Do we think these are our treasures to keep?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Our treasures are to be laid up in Heaven!<\/p>\n

Matthew 6:19-20 (NKJV) \u00a019 \u201cDo not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Here on\u00a0earth, as God\u2019s children, it is up to us to take what is given to us and be good stewards of it for the Lord.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not ours. If it was, we would bring it with us when we leave this earth.\u00a0But we don\u2019t, because we can\u2019t.<\/p>\n

It all remains here.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

What are we doing with the treasures we have been blessed with? Are we building something nice for Him or are we eating, drinking, and spending it on vanity, and\u00a0things that make us happy and comfortable?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This is not to say that we can\u2019t enjoy the blessings of the Lord. Not at all.<\/p>\n

But living a lavish lifestyle while ignoring what God wants us to do is not for us here on this earth.<\/p>\n

We need to feed and help the sick. We need to be there for the lonely, lost, and addicted. We need to reach the ends of the earth with the message of God’s love and salvation.<\/p>\n

And how we get there is by praying and making it a priority, that we would be diligent with what God supplies us with for getting the job done.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

David set his whole heart on doing this for God before he\u00a0died. He made sure everything was in place for building God\u2019s home.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

1 Chronicles 29:3 (NKJV) 3 Moreover, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, my own special treasure of gold and silver…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

What is He asking us to do today with what He has blessed us with?<\/p>\n

The importance is not in the size, the amount, or even the scope of the project.<\/p>\n

What’s truly important is\u00a0our obedience and how we handle the treasures\u00a0that\u00a0are\u00a0put in our hands.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
