1 Kings 11:6 (NKJV) 6 Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and did not fully follow the Lord, as did his father David.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I recently finished reading through the Bible again. When I finished, I pondered on where to start reading afterward. I felt like God prompted me to go back to 1 Kings and then read through 2 Kings, etc.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I needed to learn more and gain a better understanding about the various kings, and what they did that was right or wrong in God\u2019s eyes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As I\u2019ve been doing that, I have seen this phrase repeated over and over again; \u201che\u00a0did evil in the sight of the Lord\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I saw this phrase relating to the various kings close to 30 times. And it was always for the same reason; they worshipped other gods (idols).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Many\u00a0times,\u00a0it was followed by this phrase; \u201cthey made Israel sin\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

These particular kings worshiped idols and led the Israelites to do the same.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

All of this showed me that God values one thing more than anything else when it comes to our relationship with Him; our loyalty to Him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Yes, God despises sin overall. So, we need to live and walk righteously before Him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But the thing He desires most is a loyal heart; a heart after Him, that will honor Him and hold Him above all else.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This is something that shouldn\u2019t be that hard for us to do.<\/p>\n

Why? Because when Jesus left this earth, God sent us a Helper; the Holy Spirit, who leads us and guides us, convicting us before<\/em> we commit a sin, showing us how to avoid that sin.<\/p>\n

But sometimes our flesh is strong, and it takes more effort than it should to avoid those sins.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And the world has a way of waving shiny objects in front of us, enticing us to push God aside and run after \u201cother gods\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Let\u2019s be careful not to let that happen. Let\u2019s honor God in everything we do.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And let\u2019s make a conscious effort not to be one of the people who has that awful phrase attached to their name after we have left this earth; \u201cthey\u00a0did evil in the sight of the Lord\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

God has equipped us to make that possible. Amen!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
