1 Thessalonians 4:11 (NKJV) 11 that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As Paul addressed the believers at Thessalonica, he urged them to lead quiet lives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This is good for us to understand, since quiet lives also help us to be at peace, both outwardly and inwardly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This is not to insinuate that we should stay at home and never interact with others. But to encourage us to avoid conflict whenever possible, and not to purposely inject ourselves into the affairs of others, stirring up trouble and heated discussions or unnecessary debates.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

There is a fine line that we need to try to walk. As believers, we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Salt adds flavor, indicating that believers will indeed create some interesting conversations and scenarios as we bring the truth and light into various situations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This is not to say, however, that we should intentionally try to \u201cstir the pot\u201d, so to speak, to create tense situations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Notice also that he urged them to \u201cmind their own business\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This goes hand in hand with living quiet lives. And it\u2019s something that\u2019s good for us to do.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

There will be times when we are required to speak truth. And sometimes that truth will cause people to bristle up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But we need to heed the Holy Spirit as He leads us and lets us know when to speak and when to be silent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Colossians 3:15 (NKJV) 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
