Genesis 3:1 (NKJV) 1\u00a0Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, \u201cHas God indeed said, \u2018You shall not eat of every tree of the garden\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In his effort to deceive man and cause disobedience to take place,\u00a0satan\u00a0used two tactics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The first was doubt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He used questions to cause Eve to doubt that she had heard God correctly when she was told not to eat of the tree in the middle of the garden.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He never came right out and told her that it was OK. He simply got her to question what she had been told, causing her to second-guess God\u2019s instructions and step out in disobedience.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The second was isolation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Eve was alone, with nobody to help her fend off this attack.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Because Adam wasn\u2019t there, Eve was left to try to sort through this assault on her own.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This left her vulnerable, relying solely on her own strength to fight back.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And in the end, she lost the battle.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We need to be careful not to let doubt cause us to fall. When we know that God has said something is so, we need to stick to that like glue, not allowing the enemy to use the questions of others to pull us off track.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And we need to stick together as followers of Christ, children of God, so we can help each other fend off these attacks.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Remember that the verse above says that \u201cthe serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

That serpent was\u00a0satan\u00a0himself. We need to be aware of his ways and his tactics, so we can learn how to avoid him and defend ourselves and our faith against his onslaught.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV) 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
