Nehemiah 6:1-4 (NKJV) 6 Now it happened when Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies heard that I had rebuilt the wall, and that there were no breaks left in it (though at that time I had not hung the doors in the gates), 2 that Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, \u201cCome, let us meet together among the villages in the plain of Ono.\u201d But they thought to do me harm. 3 So I sent messengers to them, saying, \u201cI am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?\u201d 4 But they sent me this message four times, and I answered them in the same manner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Nehemiah was a warrior. He loved God and stood firm to serve Him, even in the face of extreme adversity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As Nehemiah worked feverishly with others to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem, he was threatened numerous times by people who hated him and those who worked with him because of what they were doing. They wanted badly to see them fail and would go to great lengths to try to make that happen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

They tried everything they could think of to get them to stop; threats, physical attacks on them, and even so-called \u201cdiplomatic\u201d meetings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But take note of what Nehemiah did; he blew them off, knowing in his heart that they intended to harm him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

There are important lessons for us to learn in this.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The enemy will continually attack us, try to scare us, threaten us and taunt us in an effort to get us to cave in and back down from standing for God\u2019s truth.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As Nehemiah did, we need to be sure to stand firm, even when it means taking hits and feeling extreme pressure.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It may not be comfortable or easy. But remember what Jesus did for us.<\/p>\n

Ease and comfort were never promised for us when we chose to become a child of God.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Joshua 1:9 (NKJV) 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
