Luke 22:42 (NKJV) 42 saying, \u201cFather, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Nevertheless\u00a0not My will, but Yours be done.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Those words, spoken by Jesus during the final hours leading up to His crucifixion, summed up His whole life\u2019s purpose here on earth; to do the will of the Father.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As followers of Christ, this should be our heart\u2019s cry; that His will would be done in our lives, not ours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It’s\u00a0important for us to understand, though, that this comes at a cost to us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Surrendering in this manner means that our lives are not our own.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The choices we make will\u00a0need to be made by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, not by our own preferences or by our emotions. That\u2019s the difference between living for ourselves and living a life that is surrendered to God.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

When we surrender to Him, He will guide each and every step we take. We still have the free will to choose whether to follow or not, but if we\u00a0do<\/em>\u00a0follow, we need to do so knowing that there will sometimes be some uncomfortable situations that we must walk through.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The best part, though, is that He will give us exactly what we need to walk through those required steps.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

That may not necessarily remove the sting or the pain, but it does guarantee that our lives will bring glory and honor to Him, which should be the purpose of every day and every minute that we live.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The right path is not always the easy path. But that path is the one that will keep us closest to His will and His heart.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
