Matthew 2:7-8 (NKJV) 7 Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared. 8 And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, \u201cGo and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Herod hoped to deceive the wise men, so he could locate the Christ child and kill Him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Isn\u2019t it just like the devil to make himself seem to have a righteous purpose behind one of his evil schemes?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And isn\u2019t it just like God to expose the enemy\u2019s evil plans?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

People of God, we live in a world where good and evil do battle constantly.\u00a0And evil masquerades as good, hoping to trick those who are unaware.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We see pieces of it played out right in front of our eyes. But then there is a lot more that we don\u2019t witness in the natural, because it\u2019s carried out in the spiritual realm.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This is why it\u2019s so critically important that we learn to discern absolutely everything that we encounter.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Truth and lies can look so much alike sometimes. And many times, it\u2019s hard to know who to trust when it comes to getting trustworthy counsel and understanding.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Again, this is why it\u2019s so critically important that we learn to discern absolutely everything that we encounter.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

So, how do we learn to discern the things we see and hear? How do we know truth from lies? How do we know the difference between honesty and deception?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We immerse ourselves in the word of God. And we let the Holy Spirit teach us how to separate truth from lies; deception from the genuine article.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

There is only one place where we can go for this; the word of God.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

His word will show us the light in the midst of darkness, even when others can\u2019t see it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He is trustworthy and true, from start to finish.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He never abandons us and never leaves us without knowledge and understanding.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

All we need to do is to desire to know the truth, and then diligently seek it out.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He will be faithful to show us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n
