Proverbs 1:5 (NKJV) 5 A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Some people spend their entire lives ignoring the counsel of others.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

While it\u2019s true that some people are all too eager to give their opinion and advice, even when it has not been asked for, it will behoove us all to pay attention and let the Holy Spirit show us to whom, and when we should listen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Failing to hear what someone says to us, especially if we hear it repeatedly over the course of many months or years, can cause us to fail to learn important lessons in our lives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This only sets us up for failure (usually repeatedly), since we didn\u2019t humble ourselves and heed what we heard many times over.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This may seem like something that\u2019s not deeply spiritual. But the fact of the matter is that God wants us all to learn and grow, and He will use people to help us do that.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But if we fail to listen to those people, either because we\u2019re stiff-necked (stubborn), or because we refuse to humble ourselves (prideful) and admit that they may have wisdom to offer us that could help us, we will find ourselves stuck in the same situations over and over again.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And it may be that we will eventually fall victim to our own devices due to our unwillingness to listen and learn.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This has spiritual ramifications because our growth as a child of God can very well be hindered (stunted) when we refuse to receive counsel from others.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Let\u2019s make sure that we allow God\u2019s Spirit to speak to us, even if we might not like what we\u2019re hearing. Just because we don\u2019t like it doesn\u2019t mean that we can\u2019t learn from it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
