Romans 12:1 (NKJV) 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Living holy lives is a very important part of our walk with God.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Many may think that because we live under God\u2019s grace, there is no need for holy, righteous living. This could not be further from the truth.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Others may even say that because Jesus was so loving and kind, and because He spent time hanging out with sinners,\u00a0we don\u2019t need to worry about holy living.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Again, this is not truth.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Take note than when Jesus spent time with sinners, He spoke truth to them, encouraging them to get their hearts right with God.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In John 8:11, when He spoke with the woman caught in adultery, He told her to \u201cgo and sin no more\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Some of the original texts actually said, \u201cgo, and from now on, sin no more\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And if we compare various translations, many of them indicate that Jesus was inferring that she needed to leave her life of sin.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

So, He made it clear to her that she needed to leave her sin behind and do what is right in God\u2019s eyes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And this applies to us as well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Paul used the word, beseech. That\u2019s a very strong word, meaning to plead, to implore, to ask urgently, or to beg.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Based on that, it\u2019s evident that Paul wanted badly for the Roman Christians to leave their lives of sin behind.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Paul was referring here mainly to sexual sins, since Rome was well-known for this. But we need to apply this to every aspect of our lives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And I like what Paul said about our lives; presenting them as living sacrifices. In other words, we need to give our bodies to God. Dedicate them to Him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Doing this will cause us to take the choices we make much more seriously, since we are now living as though we do not belong to ourselves, but to Him.<\/p>\n

1 Corinthians 6:20 (NKJV) 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God\u2019s.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We have been bought. We are not our own. Let\u2019s be careful to live like we are His.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
