2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Over the years, as I have spent more and more time in God\u2019s word, the importance of doing so\u00a0has become abundantly clear.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It\u2019s not just about \u201clearning\u201d the word.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It\u2019s not just about memorizing scripture.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

And it\u2019s not just about reading the Bible in its entirety.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It is about\u00a0much more; so much more, in fact, that it\u2019s too much to describe or define.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But let me make a genuine effort to put it into words so as to bring some things to light.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

God\u2019s word is not just printed text on pages.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It is not just a story that has been passed down from generation to generation, for many centuries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It is not just a book that we read to our children to pass the tradition down to them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

God\u2019s word is alive. It is breathing and life-giving. And it\u2019s so critical that we grasp and understand this, or we might wither up and die.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Spending time in God\u2019s word on a regular basis will increase our understanding, give us wisdom for making sound choices, and it will teach us who God is, making it easier for us to know who He wants us to be.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

If you’ve been with us for any length of time, you\u2019ll know that we constantly try to drive home the importance of spending time in His word, feeding on it daily. This is because of everything that was mentioned above, and for many other reasons that we haven\u2019t mentioned. The reasons are really too numerous to cover in one devotional!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

So, with all of that said, please understand the importance of this, and heed God\u2019s promptings to pick up His word and feast on it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It\u2019s not just something that we should casually consider, but something that we absolutely should do each and every day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
