Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you<\/span>.<\/p>\n

This is a popular, well-known scripture. For some, it is their favorite verse in the entirety of the Bible. For others, maybe it\u2019s their favorite words of Jesus.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a good reason for this, since it is based on powerful Biblical truths.<\/p>\n

But there is so much more to this verse than many of us realize. So, over the next few days, let\u2019s do a little deep dive to give us understanding as to all that it means.<\/p>\n

As we begin, my absolute favorite part is the first part, where we are instructed to \u201cseek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness<\/span>\u201d.<\/p>\n

This one phrase is really a summation of everything God wants from us; to put Him first in everything.<\/p>\n

When He tells us to seek Him first, the word, \u201cfirst\u201d is literal, not symbolic or metaphoric.<\/p>\n

When God says, \u201cseek first the kingdom<\/span>\u201d, He means first, not second, third or somewhere further down our list of things to do.<\/p>\n

This ties into many other things that God tells us about building and growing our relationship with Him.<\/p>\n

In Jeremiah 29:13, He tells us that we will find Him when we seek Him with our whole heart.<\/p>\n

James 4:8 tells us that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us.<\/p>\n

Many other scriptures will tell us the same thing.<\/p>\n

What does this mean? It means that as we put God first, we will strengthen our relationship with Him.<\/p>\n

And as we do that (put Him first), He will reward us. As the verse above says, \u201call these things shall be added to you<\/span>\u201d.<\/p>\n
