1 Chronicles 9:1 (NKJV) 1 So all Israel was recorded by genealogies, and indeed, they were inscribed in the book of the kings of Israel. But Judah was carried away captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.<\/p>\n

“But Judah was carried away captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness”.<\/p>\n

This is a powerful statement pointing to the willingness of God to chasten His people.<\/p>\n

God has standards that He wants His people to subscribe and adhere to.<\/p>\n

These are not just Old Testament standards. They apply to us today as well.<\/p>\n

God\u2019s mercy is real. He forgives as we repent.<\/p>\n

But unrepentant hearts are prime candidates for His chastening.<\/p>\n

Some nations of the world are being chastened by God right now, this very minute, for their sins and their unrepentant hearts.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s important for us to understand that His chastening isn\u2019t intended for the ungodly.<\/p>\n

It is His people, the bride of Christ, who need to repent and seek forgiveness for straying and letting our hearts become lukewarm and weak in our faith.<\/p>\n

God has given us a lengthy season of mercy; a time to allow us to see our shortcomings.<\/p>\n

During that time, He has held back His hand. His chastening has been delayed as He gave us sufficient time to correct our paths.<\/p>\n

But now we are seeing things play out that are clearly intended to show us the price we must pay for failing Him.<\/p>\n

Yes, God chastens those He loves. He punishes us when it is necessary.<\/p>\n

Hebrews 12:6 (NKJV) 6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is imperative that we allow God to soften our hearts so we can recognize our sins. Then we need to acknowledge our sins, taking the proper steps to correct them and repent.<\/p>\n

As we do that, God\u2019s hand of chastening will be lifted, and His mercy will cover us once again.<\/p>\n

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.<\/p>\n
