1 Corinthians 9:24 (NKJV) 24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.<\/p>\n

Athletes in training must be extremely disciplined if they expect to compete seriously.<\/p>\n

Their discipline must be consistent if they hope to reach peak condition for their respective undertaking. Anything less than 100% effort on their part will hamper their efforts to win, causing them to bring on their own defeat.<\/p>\n

For many who are professional athletes, this is a decades long endeavor. They can never back down, never relax their standards.<\/p>\n

It takes serious dedication to maintain this type of mindset.<\/p>\n

And so it should be with us regarding our walk with God.<\/p>\n

It is important that we keep our eye on the prize, learning to shut out all the noise and distractions that come our way each day.<\/p>\n

Many things will vie for our attention. We can easily fall prey to these things if we don\u2019t stay on top of our game.<\/p>\n

And if an athlete can do this, if they can stay disciplined for an earthly prize, how much more should we give our absolute best effort for a prize that is eternal?<\/p>\n

1 Corinthians 9:25 (NKJV) 25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.<\/p>\n

We want to remind you today to keep your eye on the prize that is before you!<\/p>\n

This life is not always easy. In fact, it can be downright difficult at times.<\/p>\n

But God has told us that in Christ we can do all things.<\/p>\n

He has gone before us. He has shown us by example. And He has sent us a Helper, the Holy Spirit, to walk us through each step that we need to take.<\/p>\n

So, keep your eye on the prize! Fix your eyes upon Jesus and don\u2019t look to the left or the right.<\/p>\n

Push through those difficult times, knowing that the end game is not about a gold, silver or bronze trophy, but an eternal crown of life.<\/p>\n

We can\u2019t do it alone. But in Him we can do whatever God has placed before us to do.<\/p>\n

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.<\/p>\n
