Matthew 16:24 (NKJV) 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, \u201c<\/span>If anyone <\/span>desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Denying ourselves the things we want is not easy for anyone.<\/span> The flesh likes what it likes.<\/p>\n

Our call to move from RI to NC was a denying and a following decision.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We left all we knew. All our favorite spots in our hometown. All that we were familiar and comfortable with.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Most of our family was there. All our friends were there. And here we are in a place of complete unfamiliarity; new ground, following His steps for us. Following Him and whatever He wants <\/span>of us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

You just never know when God will say, \u201cit\u2019s time to make a move”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of us <\/span>don\u2019t even like the thought <\/i>of changing things up, never mind actually doing <\/i>it!<\/p>\n

I understand. I am that person too. I like the comfort of knowing where things are.<\/p>\n

When I am used to something being somewhere, I like that. I like my doctors, my dentist, my favorite caf\u00e9 and restaurants. I like the\u00a0places I’m used to doing business at. It feels good!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

It\u2019s not that we can\u2019t find them all over again in a new place. It\u2019s just a type of security and great comfort to know they are there.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I can say now, after being in this new place for almost 2 years, I am finally finding my footing again.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have been stretched in ways I <\/span>didn\u2019t know I could even stretch, but only God knew. I am thanking Him today, He has us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I encourage you today if you are being prompted to make a move.<\/span><\/p>\n

It <\/span>doesn\u2019t have to be the same move that we had to make. But any move in any area of your life where God is saying, “let go and follow Me”.<\/p>\n

Be sure to not try and do it on our own. Ask God to go before you, and follow Him all the way through it.<\/p>\n

You will have your moments, and you will mourn those things you no longer have.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Denying ourselves and following Him comes at a price!<\/span><\/p>\n

Yes, I miss those people and places I left, but I am where I need to <\/span>be. And I am truly at peace with that. I have learned that peace is better than comfort.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Being comforted or comfortable only lasts <\/span>a short time, until the next uncomfortable thing shows up. But having peace will guide our hearts and minds, helping us get through anything we must withstand. I’ll take peace, thank you!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
