Lamentations 3:22-23 (NKJV) 22 Through the Lord\u2019s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.<\/p>\n

We are all frail, fickle, wishy-washy human beings.<\/p>\n

We are prone to failure.<\/p>\n

We are prone to making bad choices.<\/p>\n

We are prone to disappointing God in our actions.<\/p>\n

But because of His mercies, we are not destroyed.<\/p>\n

Because He is faithful, His mercies are new every morning.<\/p>\n

If we fall, we get back up. If we fail, we try again.<\/p>\n

You see, we are saved by grace, not by works. It is the gift of God.<\/p>\n

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.<\/p>\n

God doesn’t ask for perfection. He asks for obedience.<\/p>\n

Should we try to fail less often? Absolutely.<\/p>\n

Christianity without growth is questionable.<\/p>\n

When a person becomes a Christian, growth is implied. God never intended for someone to become His child and not mature.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s not those efforts to grow that save us. We can\u2019t buy our redemption. We can\u2019t bribe God with manufactured righteousness.<\/p>\n

And if we do stupid stuff, a sincere heart of repentance, and a genuine effort to change is all God asks for.<\/p>\n

As the scripture says at the beginning of this devotional, because of His mercies, we are not consumed.<\/p>\n

So, if you\u2019re struggling to get it right, if you\u2019re wrestling with sin or a complacent spirit, don\u2019t beat yourself up.<\/p>\n

Recognize it in yourself and surrender it to God. Submit yourself to Him and follow His leading.<\/p>\n

He will show us what to do. We just need to do it.<\/p>\n
