Proverbs 15:4 (NKJV) 4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.<\/p>\n

Words.<\/p>\n

We speak them by the thousands each day; many without consideration beforehand as to what their ramifications will be, what fruit they will bear.<\/p>\n

As I have lived these 60+ years, I have learned more each day about the consequences of words; sometimes by the words I have spoken, and other times by the words spoken by others.<\/p>\n

And in all this learning, one conclusion has become abundantly clear; words spoken in haste or based solely on emotion will seldom bear good fruit.<\/p>\n

Often, those words can do great harm and result in irreparable damage, and many times death. It may not be death of the physical kind, but death, nonetheless.<\/p>\n

Conversely, words spoken with contemplation and by God\u2019s leading, words of love and truth, tempered by the Holy Spirit, bring healing and life.<\/p>\n

The tongue is a great, untamed beast constrained only by the lips of its owner. It appears small but wields mighty power.<\/p>\n

That power is ours to do with as we choose.<\/p>\n

James states without apology that the tongue is untamable by man. And it is, in fact, an unruly evil that is full of poison.<\/p>\n

James 3:8 (NKJV) 8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.<\/p>\n

Will you join me in allowing the Holy Spirit to help us tame our tongues?<\/p>\n
