I die daily.<\/p>\n
As Paul was teaching the Corinthians, he wanted them to understand the reality of, and grasp the importance of, the doctrine of the resurrection of the dead; the raising of the saints from the grave at the return of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n
Second only to our redemption from sin, this is one of the biggest parts of our hope in Christ.<\/p>\n
Paul emphasized this when he stated in 1 Corinthians 15:32, “If the dead do not rise, \u201cLet us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!\u201d.<\/p>\n
Without the resurrection, life has no purpose and no hope.<\/p>\n
But let us also look at what Paul said in Corinthians 15:31, above.<\/p>\n
He used the phrase, \u201cI die daily\u201d to describe his life in Christ.<\/p>\n
What did he mean by this?<\/p>\n
It has two meanings.<\/p>\n
First, Paul\u2019s life was constantly in danger because of his faith, as he stated in verse 30, above.<\/p>\n
Because of this, he inferred that he put his life at risk (literally) every hour and could lose his life because of this.<\/p>\n
But look at what Jesus said.<\/p>\n
Luke 9:23 (NKJV) 23 Then He said to them all, \u201cIf anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me<\/span>.<\/p>\n Taking up our cross daily is symbolic of dying. Jesus also said we must deny ourselves.
