Psalm 22:1-3 (LSB) 22 My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Far from my salvation are the words of my groaning. 2 O my God, I call by day, but You do not answer; And by night, but I have no rest. 3 Yet You are holy, Enthroned upon the praises of Israel.<\/p>\n

David was labeled by God as a man after His own heart.<\/p>\n

Yet he was not a perfect man. He had his faults and shortcomings.<\/p>\n

But he desired to please God in his life as a whole.<\/p>\n

He trusted God.<\/p>\n

It was to God that he gave thanks and praise.<\/p>\n

It was to God that he looked for understanding and wisdom.<\/p>\n

And it was to God he would go when he was in trouble.<\/p>\n

He understood taking things to God in prayer.<\/p>\n

He understood the importance and power of fasting.<\/p>\n

And he knew the pain of feeling like God had forsaken him during times when he needed Him most.<\/p>\n

But David never forsook God. He knew that God was faithful. And he knew that without God, he could do nothing.<\/p>\n

In fact, without God, he would have been nothing more than a shepherd. It was God\u2019s call and anointing upon his life that made him who he was; king of Israel, and the leader of God\u2019s people.<\/p>\n

David didn\u2019t let his position or power go to his head. He did not think more of himself than he should have.<\/p>\n

He looked to God as his source of everything.<\/p>\n

And it was the words of David in the verse above that Jesus cried out on the cross; \u201cMy God, my God, why have You forsaken me?\u201d.<\/p>\n

Yet David stayed steadfast in trusting God.<\/p>\n

There is much we can learn from David\u2019s example. God is faithful in everything.<\/p>\n

Just as David did, that is something we can count on no matter what we face in life.<\/p>\n
