Acts 1:4-5 (NKJV) 4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, \u201cwhich<\/span>,\u201d He said, \u201cyou have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n

“John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”<\/p>\n

It is very important to note that Jesus commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father.<\/p>\n

It was critical for them to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n

Why?<\/p>\n

Because their mission required what the Holy Spirit had for them; Power!<\/p>\n

Power to be witnesses for Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth.<\/p>\n

Acts 1:8 (NKJV) 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n

This mission could only be fulfilled by supernatural power from on High.<\/p>\n

The day of Pentecost came when they were all in one accord, in one place; an upper room.<\/p>\n

He came and filled each one of them. And they began to speak with other tongues.<\/p>\n

Acts 2:4 (NKJV) 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.<\/p>\n

Some may ask, was this just for the disciples in those days? Can anyone be baptized in the Holy Spirit, or was it limited for just that one time?<\/p>\n

Tomorrow we will dive deeper into this topic and see what the word of God shows us.<\/p>\n
