Romans 4:13 (NLT) 13 Clearly, God\u2019s promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was based not on his obedience to God\u2019s law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s talk about Abraham, and the significance of these verses in Romans Chapter 4. There is much for us to learn!<\/p>\n

The verse above shows us that God had promised Abraham he would be the heir of (would inherit) the world.<\/p>\n

He chose Abraham because of his faith in God, not because of his obedience to God\u2019s laws.<\/p>\n

This is described in the verse above as \u201ca right relationship with God\u201d.<\/p>\n

To define it more clearly, Abraham\u2019s was a relationship that was always growing and becoming stronger. It was not something Abraham took lightly or approached casually.<\/p>\n

That faith alone was credited to him as righteousness in God\u2019s eyes.<\/p>\n

\n

The promise that God made to Abraham depended fully on him having a son.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But at that time, he and Sarah were childless.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Yet, even at 100 years of age, Abraham still believed (trusted) God to bring His promise to pass despite Sarah (his wife) being well past child-bearing age.<\/p>\n

His faith never wavered.<\/p>\n

Romans 4:19 (NLT) 19 And Abraham\u2019s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead\u2014and so was Sarah\u2019s womb.<\/p>\n

He was convinced that God would bring to pass what He had promised despite what it looked like to the human mind.<\/p>\n

Why did he cling to this promise? And how could he have believed something that seemed so infinitely impossible?<\/p>\n

Because he had spent his lifetime nurturing and growing his relationship with God. He couldn\u2019t help but trust Him.<\/p>\n

Romans 4:21 (NLT) 21 He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever He promises.<\/p>\n

This is what God intends for you and me; that we grow and mature, getting to know Him so well that we can\u2019t help but trust Him and take Him at His word.<\/p>\n

Will you trust Him with your life?<\/p>\n
