Genesis 4:3-5 (NKJV) 3 And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord. 4 Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, 5 but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.<\/p>\n

For the longest time, this Cain and Abel story bothered me. I could not figure out why Cain\u2019s gift was not accepted, but Abel\u2019s was!<\/p>\n

To me, they both seemed pretty good on the surface.<\/p>\n

I was reminded about how Important it is that our faith is connected to our giving, to our prayers, and to our relationship and walk with God.<\/p>\n

Hebrews 11:4 (NKJV) 4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not so much the sacrifice that God looks at, but the faith and heart behind it.<\/p>\n

God knew Cain\u2019s heart.<\/p>\n

And the fruit of his heart surely showed up, taking the life of his own brother, Abel.<\/p>\n

Folks, we can\u2019t fool God.<\/p>\n

He knows what’s in there. Let Him put His finger on that old heart of ours and not get angry when He does.<\/p>\n

We can’t harden our hearts to His correction.<\/p>\n

Hebrews 3:7-8 (NKJV) 7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: \u201cToday, if you will hear His voice, 8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness,<\/p>\n

Amen.<\/p>\n
