1 Corinthians 2:4 (NJKV) 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

When Paul spoke, he let the power of the Holy Spirit guide his words and touch the hearts of the people. He kept his preaching focused on Jesus, and His death on the cross.

He did not try to motivate people by way of human intellect. He let the Spirit and the power of God bring change to their hearts.

When change comes to us by the hand of God, it grips us. If we do things out of being persuaded by someone, it will bring failure with it.

We will end up right back where we started, sometimes leaving us in a worse situation.

Be aware of people who want to tickle our ears to motivate us into doing things. Most times their motive behind it is for selfish reasons. And, if we are not careful, allowing the Holy Spirit to help us discern, we may be persuaded by their words and put our faith in them.

Paul explains in the next verse that our faith should not be in a person, but in God Himself.

1 Corinthians 2:5 (NKJV) 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

It’s easy to look up to someone when they have said things that have helped us out at times. But we need to make sure we don’t put them in a place where God should be.

Man can make mistakes and fail us. But God will stand forever.

His words may sting sometimes, but they bring truth and freedom in our lives today!

Isaiah 40:8 (NKJV) 8 The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”

Amen.
