Psalm 25:16 (NKJV) 16 Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me, For I am desolate and afflicted.

David is crying out to God.

Why?

Because he is desolate.

What does it mean to feel this way as a person?

The root word of desolate is the Latin adjective, solus, which means “alone” or “single”.

To feel desolate as a person is to be in an empty place with no people and no life, or having a deep feeling of extreme sadness and loneliness.

A lot of godly people will feel this from time to time. Many times we will walk alone. We will feel at times like we have no one to call a “friend”.

But we must remember that we are not alone no matter how we feel at that moment or what it looks like. For the Lord our God is always with us. He is a friend like none other.

He’s listening. He is ready to help us at any given time. He knows what we need, when we need it, and He has already gone before us to make things happen.

If you feel lonely today, it’s normal. Cry out to Him like David did, and He will comfort you and walk you through this day. He will give you strength and courage to keep you keeping on.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV) 6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

You’re never alone if you are His child. Rest in His promise to you.

Amen.
