1 Kings 19:11 And he said, Go forth, and stand on the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: 12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.<\/p>\n
So often we want to hear God’s voice. We wait and we listen. Or at least we think<\/i> we listen.<\/p>\n
But as many times as we want<\/i> to hear God, how many times are we actually listening for the true<\/i> voice of God and not what we think<\/i> is God’s voice?<\/p>\n
Probably every single one of us has wished at one time or another that God would speak to us in a booming voice, loud and clear, with instructions for our situation, or an answer to a question that we have. If only it was that easy!<\/p>\n
But God wants us to learn<\/i> to hear Him. He wants us to sharpen our discernment and train our ears to hear His voice.<\/p>\n
It takes discipline and work to develop “ears to hear”, but the return is worth the effort.<\/p>\n
And don’t make the mistake of thinking that anyone anywhere “has it all figured out”. Nobody does. Even mature believers with great spiritual ears still “miss it” once in a while.<\/p>\n
But remember that God is a “rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”, so don’t give up.<\/p>\n
Keep pressing in and learning to hear Him. He’s speaking gently.<\/p>\n
