Galatians 1:8 (NKJV) But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.<\/p>\n
There are many “gospels”. There are so many messages that are preached and taught throughout the world. Sometimes it can be tough to filter out the “noise” and find the real thing.<\/p>\n
But it’s super important that we know what we’re being taught. And we need to make sure it’s not “another gospel”.<\/p>\n
So how do we know? How do we take what we hear and figure out if it’s the truth, a lie or just a twisted variation of the truth?<\/p>\n
We measure it using God’s ruler. And what is God’s ruler? His word!<\/p>\n
As followers of Christ, it’s very important that we take everything we hear and filter it through God’s word. We need to compare it to what God’s word actually<\/i> says, not what we think<\/i> it says.<\/p>\n
If we do this, we will find ourselves being amazed at how many things we thought<\/i> God’s word said, only to find that it’s not in there! It can be very eye-opening and revealing to see those things that we believed for so many years, just because someone spoke them, be torn down to expose the truth.<\/p>\n
So when you find yourself saying something and repeating it as truth from God’s word, we’d like to challenge you to check it out. Verify that it’s really “in the book”. Make sure it’s truth, and not just a fragment of truth that has been handed down over the years.<\/p>\n
It’s worth the effort.<\/p>\n
