Romans 5:8 (NKJV) 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.<\/p>\n
I remember before I became a Christian. I started hearing the gospel and it left an impression on me almost immediately.<\/p>\n
I can remember standing in a church, listening and knowing that I needed to put my faith in Jesus long before I actually did it.<\/p>\n
But I had what I thought were legitimate reasons for waiting. I wanted to get my act cleaned up first. I wanted to stop swearing, change my attitude, stop drinking, and a list of other things. I thought I had to do this in order to present myself to God and be saved.<\/p>\n
Boy, was I wrong.<\/p>\n
I eventually understood that God wanted me just as I was, with all of the bad habits, shortcomings and baggage. It was His desire to take me and clean me up and use me for His kingdom.<\/p>\n
Mark 2:17 (NKJV) 17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, \u201cThose who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance<\/span>.<\/p>\n Once I understood this, it made a world of difference and I finally turned my life over to Christ. And boy did it feel good to have my sins forgiven!<\/p>\n God did eventually help me to get cleaned up. My language changed. My habits changed. I became a new man by the blood of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n And God can do the same for you. Stop thinking that you have to make yourself clean in order to come to God. Come to Him first<\/i>, and then <\/i>let Him do the cleaning.
