(Eph 4:29 NIV) Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but
\nonly what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that
\nit may benefit those who listen.<\/p>\n
Unwholesome talk… What is that anyway?<\/p>\n
Are the words we speak edifying? Do they lift up or do they tear down? Do
\nthey bring light or do they bring darkness?<\/p>\n
Have you ever been around someone who seems to speak only negative things?
\nIt seems like no matter what subject is brought up, some people can only say
\nbad things… never anything good.<\/p>\n
This is a form of unwholesome talk. It may not be obscene or vulgar, but it
\ndoesn’t do anyone any good or help anyone.<\/p>\n
Our words should be encouraging. They should lift people up and bring light,
\nnot darkness. There are obviously going to be times when we need to address
\nthings or correct people, but even that can be done in a way that isn’t
\ncondescending or terribly negative.<\/p>\n
We just need to let God have control of our mouths and our thoughts. If we
\ndo this, the rest will come more easily.<\/p>\n
