1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV) 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.<\/p>\n
We have an adversary… an enemy, the devil.<\/p>\n
He has one purpose; to wreak havoc on us and do as much damage as possible in our lives.<\/p>\n
That might seem like pretty heavy duty stuff. And it is!<\/p>\n
But we don’t have to be a victim of this adversary. Why? Because God has equipped us to be able to thwart his attacks.<\/p>\n
The enemy will try to attack us from many different angles. Some attacks will come in a general sort of way. While other attacks will come as temptations.<\/p>\n
When it comes to those general attacks, we can pray for God’s protection over our homes and our families, so that when attacks do<\/i>\u00a0come the damage is minimal or nonexistent.<\/p>\n
When it comes to personal attacks, where we are tempted <\/i>by the enemy, God has instructed us specifically about this and how to handle it. It’s not complicated.<\/p>\n
James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.<\/p>\n
This might seem over-simplified, but it’s really not. God gave us free will. And we have the freedom to choose what we do on a daily basis, from one minute to the next.<\/p>\n
So the next time the enemy comes knocking on our door, dangling a temptation in front of us, we don’t need to get hot and sweaty, anxious or antsy.<\/p>\n
We simply need to tell him “no” and then turn and walk away from the temptation. And as we do this more and more, it will get easier and easier for us.<\/p>\n
Soon, we will be a pro at resisting his attacks.<\/p>\n
