Ephesians 5:31 (NKJV) 31 \u201cFor this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.\u201d<\/p>\n
A husband and wife are meant to be “one flesh”. There are many implications in this. But today we’re going to touch base on the “physical” side of it.<\/p>\n
The sexual intimacy between a husband and wife is a very important part of their relationship. As the two share times of physical intimacy and pleasure, the Bible says they become one flesh.<\/p>\n
It’s important that this physical side of the relationship never be overlooked or made to seem less important than any other part of the marriage. This doesn’t mean that every couple should share physical intimacy in the same way, the same number of times or anything similar.<\/p>\n
It means that each couple will need to put effort into building and maintaining their sexual relationship, so it doesn’t become the “weak link” in their marriage.<\/p>\n
Part of this means making sure we’re satisfying each other sexually. As with the other aspects of a marriage, we need to make sure that we’re both giving 100% in the sexual part of the union.<\/p>\n
So we need to be careful that we’re not ignoring the needs of our spouse.<\/p>\n
1 Corinthians 7:5 (NKJV) 5 Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.<\/p>\n
And this applies to both the husband and the wife! We both need to respect each other and work together to create a sex life that’s satisfying for both people. It’s all about compromise and respect, just as the other parts of a relationship.<\/p>\n
Many people get uncomfortable talking about this kind of thing. But it’s important that we don’t ignore it and put our relationship in jeopardy simply because it’s “uncomfortable”.<\/p>\n
We urge married couples to take the time to work at every part of your marriage relationship, including the sexual part!<\/p>\n
