1 Timothy 5:13 (NKJV) 13 And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Timothy exposes gossip for what it is…\u00a0saying things we\u00a0should not be saying.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

According to the Webster Dictionary, a gossiper is someone who often talks about the private details of other people’s lives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Have we ever noticed that when someone is talking about someone else, they whisper or talk quietly so they can not be heard? That is a sure sign of\u00a0gossip. If we can not or won’t say it in front of the person we are talking about, then we should not be talking about it. Period.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

How many times have we been drawn\u00a0into\u00a0a gossiping session,\u00a0without us even wanting\u00a0to? One thing\u00a0gets asked or brought up and the next thing we know we are traveling\u00a0down\u00a0this road,\u00a0talking and saying things we wish we hadn’t said or brought up\u00a0about others. Or the other person is saying things\u00a0about someone we’d rather not hear and it looks like we are part of it?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Gossiping is a problem with Christians today and we need to identify it and get God’s help. We need His help so that we may be quick to pick up on it before we get caught up in it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Unbelievers\u00a0have\u00a0their\u00a0eyes on\u00a0Christians. They want to know how real we\u00a0are, and if what we say we actually do.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Gossiping is one of those things that can catch us off guard and it is a quick turn off to unbelievers when they see or hear us participating in it. You know how it goes? It’s OK for them, but as soon as we mess up or do what they<\/em> are doing, they love it. It gives them justification, so to speak.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

We\u00a0cannot\u00a0categorize\u00a0gossiping as a little thing. We need to see it for what God’s Word says it is. In God’s eyes it’s sin, and\u00a0sin is\u00a0what keeps God from being able to get close to us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

So let us all pray today for each other, that God\u00a0will help\u00a0us to see gossip for what it really is and help us to be strong and not\u00a0get caught up in it. Amen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
