2 Corinthians 7:1 (NKJV) 7 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cleanse ourselves from\u00a0the\u00a0filthiness\u00a0of the flesh. What is the\u00a0filthiness of the flesh that Paul is referring to?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Galatians 5:19-21(NKJV) 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are:\u00a0adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders,\u00a0drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

These things are the\u00a0filthiness. These are the things that we need to cleanse ourselves from.<\/p>\n

Some of us have\u00a0been trying but we are having a hard time with it. It has a hold on us and we can’t seem to break free.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

When we find that we can’t stop what we are doing it may be because of\u00a0two things. First, it may be that we love what we do and we don’t want to give it up. We love our sin.<\/p>\n

Or second, we may have opened the door to this thing and don’t know how to shut it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

What do we do in this case?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

First and foremost, we need to\u00a0be serious about\u00a0giving it up or stopping it. We can’t\u00a0play games with it. We can’t be saying one minute that we want to\u00a0stop\u00a0and then the next minute that we want it back.\u00a0That’s\u00a0not being serious.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Will it take work to break free? Yes. Absolutely. But it will be worth every bit of work that it takes!<\/p>\n

Many times people see the problem, but when they realize it’s going to take work, they talk themselves out of it before they even get started.\u00a0Some things take time. It won’t just get better\u00a0overnight.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

If one of these fleshly things has a grip on us,\u00a0we need to deal with it and let God\u00a0set\u00a0us free, even\u00a0if it means taking\u00a0steps we never have\u00a0taken\u00a0before.<\/p>\n

We shouldn’t focus on how much work or how long it will take. We are going to look to God and take one day at a time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Make a\u00a0decision\u00a0today. Filthy or Cleansed? Bound or Free?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
