Matthew 19:21 (NKJV) 21 Jesus said to him, \u201cIf you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Why did Jesus bring this up to the\u00a0man that had great<\/em><\/strong> possessions? Because the man asked Jesus, “what\u00a0do I lack?” (Matthew\u00a019:20) You ask Jesus a question, He will give you the\u00a0answer. After\u00a0Jesus gave him His\u00a0answer, the man walked away sorrowful.<\/p>\n

Why? Because he lacked in his faith in the\u00a0area of giving. Even though he had so many possessions, he wasn’t willing to give or obey in this area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This man could sit there and say with confidence,\u00a0he didn’t murder, he didn’t commit\u00a0adultery, he didn’t steal,\u00a0he didn’t bear false witness, he honored his parents, and he loved his neighbor (Matthew 19:18-19).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But when Jesus brought to his attention the\u00a0very\u00a0thing\u00a0that he lacked, that\u00a0very thing that would help him as well, what did the man do? \u00a0It\u00a0says he\u00a0turned away sorrowful<\/em> (Matthew 19:22).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Some people just simply struggle with giving. They are willing to do everything else, but when it comes down to giving their MONEY or possessions, they simply will not let go.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Jesus does not want anything to have a\u00a0hold<\/strong> on us.\u00a0If we\u00a0struggle with this today we need to make a statement and do the opposite; we need to give!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

You see faith and works go together.\u00a0If we say we have faith but will not step out in it and\u00a0take action, where is faith in that?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

James 2:20 (NKJV) 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Today we believe God is speaking to some who struggle in this. You truly have a\u00a0hard\u00a0time in letting go and giving of your money or your possessions.<\/p>\n

It doesn’t have to be this way. We don’t have to walk away sorrowful like this man did. That is just an example of what\u00a0not<\/em>\u00a0to do.<\/p>\n

We can do the right thing and obey, just as Jesus asked this\u00a0man to do.\u00a0Don’t make excuses. They won’t help us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Follow Christ, the author and finisher of our faith, by stepping out and taking action.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV) 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Give.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
