(1 John 4:1 NKJV) Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.<\/p>\n
God warns us to not be so easily persuaded; we need to test the spirits. Bad spirits are so sneaky and conniving that they almost look like the real thing. If we don’t know the Word of God we can be fooled. If we don’t know the difference between the spirits, even if we do know what the Word says, we can be deceived. The key is to test them. If we don’t, we can actually line up with them and think we are doing the right thing, but all along God is nowhere in it.<\/p>\n
Look at how satan used scripture to try to trick Jesus into following him. (Mat 4:5-7 NKJV)\u00a0 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, {6} and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.'” 7} Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.'”<\/p>\n
Jesus knew what spirit was operating here and He did NOT listen to it. We can see from this that these spirits will not stop at anything. It’s up to us to know God’s word and what He says. It’s up to us to ask God for His discerning of these spirits that try to trick us.<\/p>\n
Pray for God to help us test the spirit. Some things may look good on the outside, but not so good on the inside.
