Matthew 6:31-34 (NKJV) 31 \u201cTherefore do not worry, saying, \u2018What shall we eat?\u2019 or \u2018What shall we drink?\u2019 or \u2018What shall we wear?\u2019 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Worrying. Most of us spend way too much time doing it.<\/p>\n

What does worrying do?<\/p>\n

It causes stress. It causes high blood pressure. It causes fear. And the list could go on and on.<\/p>\n

But notice one thing; not one of the things that worrying does is helpful or positive. They are all harmful to us in one way or another.<\/p>\n

And here’s another thing to consider; the vast majority of the things we worry about never happen. So, all of the time and energy we spent worrying was wasted.<\/p>\n

Jesus said not to worry. He also said that\u00a0worrying won’t add a single cubit to our stature. Literally spoken, it won’t make us taller! In other words, we gain absolutely nothing by worrying.<\/p>\n

Matthew 6:27 (NKJV) 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature<\/span>?<\/p>\n

So, what’s the answer? How do we quit worrying when we’re facing difficult things?<\/p>\n

The answer <\/i>is easy. Carrying it out, however, isn’t always easy. Especially at first.<\/p>\n

We trust God with absolutely everything about our lives. Everything. That means the little things and the big things. We take them to Him. We give them to Him. And we stop trying to carry them ourselves and figure them out ourselves.<\/p>\n

We learn from Him. We listen for His voice, and we do what He tells us to do, even when it doesn’t make sense to our heads and our human understanding.<\/p>\n

And as we do this, we begin to learn how to walk through storms and trials without spending every waking hour worrying and fretting over things that we have no control over to begin with.<\/p>\n

We begin to learn how to hear Him and follow His leading, as He gives us step by step guidance and instructions.<\/p>\n

And over time, it becomes easier and easier to follow Him and put worrying behind us.<\/p>\n
